Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

when you disable the protection did you click on save to save your changes because if you did not then all what you have change will still remain the way it is initially.and secondly if you can remove the protection to show from start-up and then you will have your access .

You may have not removed all files....I assume you used the"Uninstaller"? If so there may be files left in registry causing the prob. If you are not expert with registry editing then find someone that is and delete all files for this sofware and try a clean installation.

Couldnt Find fingerprint equipment

Hi,

Let me elaborate on what the other two were telling you. First, your fingerprint reader is a scanner, if it is showing up as a scanner then you have the device installed. Second it may not have the right driver installed so that the biometric software doesn't realize it's the right device.

First you need to install the driver from the backup you made for the fingerprint scanner. If it doen't work or is not on the backup then you neew to go to www.acer.com pick your region, then get into the driver downloads for your model. You will need the full model # ex AS5730-54857 off the bottom of the laptop to get into the downloads. Once you're in download the newest update for the finger print scanner.

Once you have that installed it should show up properly in the device manager and the biometric software should recognize it. It is always important to install the drivers before the software for these devices as otherwise they will not work. The software installer needs to see the proper device at the time it installs, so if the biometric software is currently installed, remove it then proceed with installing/updating the driver.

As a general rule, registering with "Acer Standard Registration" is simply putting your computer under Acer's warranty for operation and/or repair if needed; registration almost certainly has nothing to do unlocking your password.

First, without sounding critical, if you didn't set the bio-protection, who did? Or, who had access to your computer that could have set the biometric fingerprint sensor? That person could/should be able to unlock it.

Assuming you've used the computer (and not someone else) and you're not the second register of the computer, you could try contacting Acer at their website and explain your problem and see if they can answer your question.

If the laptop is not originally yours, and the biometric sensor was set by a previous owner, that should solve your problem, having the previous owner "unlock" the system.

If the laptop is not originally yours and you don't know who the previous owner is, there's a good chance that you cannot access the informtion. You could take the laptop to a computer repair outlet that does hard drive repairs, however that is usually not cheap and you might pay for them for an evaluation and find that they cannot unlock the system.

And, there's a chance that you will not be able to reformat the disk; the protection might not allow you to reformat it. Again, you might need to bring it to a computer shop and have them reformat it (or, possibly, install a new hard drive in order to use the computer).
