Bosch Nexxt 500 series gas dryer

I put a heavy load of bed linens in the dryer and it stopped functioning. The lint filter light is illuminated, but the lint filter is not the problem. This happened 6 months ago and the tech said that a heavy item in the dryer like tennis shoes could trip the safety switch. Thanks for your help!

I have been looking for such a button and cannot find it!

    I cannot find this button!

  • sjohnson5010 Aug 30, 2010

I think I just have not located the right button. The only red thing I have found is very small and does not seem to press. Would it be on the lower right down on the drum?

  • sjohnson5010 Sep 13, 2010

    Where is the burner cone?

  • sjohnson5010 Sep 24, 2010

I have a tech over who has just reset the "button" and showed me how to do it for the future. It is not red, looks more like a spring and is to the left of the motor, but now I know how to do it should the problem ever come up again!

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. Based on what I've read here you've removed the back panel, is this correct ? If so if you look directly to the right ( from the back ) of the exhaust pipe routed in the middle, you should see a metal housing with the safety/hi-limit fixed to the side with a tiny red button on it. If you push this and it does not reset, then you have a wire off at the ntc or indeed a faulty ntc at the blower/vent housing just below the right side drum roller. I'll watch for your response. Let me know how you make out. If you don't understand I will post pictures. Regards, Macmarkus :)

    Hello again,

I hope this works for you, here is what to look for...hi-limit location on burner chamber.

    i.e.

This of course is the view from top with the drum removed, but you should be able to reach from the front small round access panel...just be careful of the very sharp edges, unplug the unit and you may also need a flashlight.

To remove this cover, insert a pointed object ( oe tool ) into the small hole, push in to release the latch and rotate the cover clockwise to approx. 6 o`clock position.

    i.e.

I should add you may also have a faulty NTC as I mentioned previously. It is a non resettable and must be replaced if faulty. It is located on the exhaust housing below the lint screen but can only accessed via taking the unit apart...it is identified in this image via the black arrow in the lower left. ( sorry for the image quality, it`s via my phone camera as my scanner is currently "ill". :P

    i.e.

If that where the case, the unit would run but not heat. After reading all the info here I still cannot see where it has been stated your unit even runs or not. All I am able to gather is the lint light is illuminated.

This is what bosch says regarding the light being illuminated...

Let me know if any of this helps move you forward and if not I`ll see what else I can provide.

    Good luck.

    Regards,

    Macmarkus :)

OK what you need is the service manual, you need to Google for your service manual, as all units can be different in the way there reset. So find out you exact make and model, and type that into the Google search bar, and add the words service manual, this then should give you links hopefully to a manual. now if you cannot find one on the 'net, contact the manufacturer, they will be only too happy to either give, or sell you one. Some dryers also have a maintenance sheet inside the unit behind the inspection panel, that too will tell you what to do, see if there is one, there isn't always though.

It is almost impossible to tell and advise you how to do it yourself without the make and exact/compete model number of the dryer and without the problem being described properly. You don't have to accept or reject and rate this post to add information or post comments and follow-up questions. Accepting a solution does not stop you from communicating with an expert. You may continue communicating with the expert as long as you need assistance regarding the issue stated herein.

Remove the back cover of the dryer and on the lower right side is a red button. It is the safety switch reset button. Press the button to reset the safety switch then put the rear cover back.

Look for it on the burner cone at the base inside the cabinet if you cannot find any button on the back of the dryer.

  • sjohnson5010 Aug 30, 2010

So I found a small red button beside an exhaust cylinder, but pressing the button did not have any effect. When I replug the machine, I still have the lint filter light illuminating and no heat or turning of the drum.

The reset button is an integral part of the high limit thermostat. Bypass the high-limit thermostat if resetting it bypressing the rest button doesn't resolve the problem. Simply tape the wires together or jump a wire between the wire terminals. Replace the high-limit thermostat if bypassing it makes the dryer work. Do not use the dryer with the high-limit thermostat bypassed to avoid incurring further damage to other components.

The lint filter light also comes on when the dye vent duct is clogged with lint. Run the dryer with the vent duct disconnected to see whether the lint filter turns off or not. Clean the vent duct if the lint filter light does not come with the vent duct disconnected.

It is recommended to unplug the dryer for at least 30 minutes before resuming the troubleshooting to forcibly reset the dryer.

Here's what the button looks like:

Look for the high-limit thermostat in the burner assembly particularly the burner cone.

The burner cone is located at the base of the dryer where the gas piping leads to.

I have an 1100 watt Aurora. It has power the display lights up but it doesn't heat up. It was purchased from Home Depot about 5 months ago

Five months ago ... it may still be in warranty. If so .. take it back ... dont open it up ... you will jeopardze your warranty standing.

Do you ever open the door while the machine is running? If you do ... the door satery interlock switches may have failed. If there is no warranty issue, you may want to remove the cabinet and check these little switches.

What happens is this ... when you close the door, the switches report to the oven that the door is closed and it is OK to turn on the heat. If the switches are burned, the contacts don't close and the oven thinks the door is open and will not turn on the heat.

Dryer won't start when button is pushed. The

This is a broken belt symptom. On some models when the belt breaks the idler drops down and hits a micro switch that kills power to the run windings. So that the motor won't run and cause the heater to come on. This is a safety feature. Post your model number for a more precise answer.

Garage Master 1/3 HP 1997 Door Working, not responding to Remote

I have the exact same situation, except my model (139.53607) is older than yours and does not even have an LED. Remotes only works after after shop light goes off (5 minutes or so), but wall button works fine. Did call Sears Service and the tech told me the logic board is probably shot. Don't want to waste money on service call so I'll probably have to buy a completely new unit in the Spring and go through the winter without the use of a remote.

Kitchenaid kudso1dlss3 clean light flashing cannot do a new cycle

I do not have the same model as you, my model is KUD01ILBS6 but I have the same problem. A service tech told me it was a error code and here is how to fix it.

1 open the dishwasher door
2 hit high temp scrub button
3 then hit energy saver dry button
4 do step 2 & 3 again
5 close the door
6 hit the cancel button
7 you can hit cancel button again then try to start your dishwasher

This works for me, you may have to do this every few months because there is a glitch in kitchenaid where if the water temp is not sensed right it will keep the dishwasher from working. It took me 3 service calls to find this out.
