What does error code "Key Short Err" on Viking dual fuel mean?

Hello. That type of error usually means that there is a shorted button on the control. I don't know the model number so I can't look up the part. The button control panel is usually known as the "user interface" in repair lingo. Be prepared, the user interface panel is normally more expensive than the main control board. If the unit has "soft touch" buttons one of them probably is shorted out(giving the computer the impression that you haven't removed your finger and it's still being pressed). If it's one of the fancy capacitive touch panels(you just touch the glass to select), the circuit board has a defective chip and must be replaced.

Sounds like some type of power surge and now either the control board or motor has gone bad. You will need to have it serviced by a Viking Service Tech. You can find a dealer near you by using the link 'Locate a Dealer' at the Husqvarna Viking Website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

Hi- It sounds like you diagnosed the problem correctly. There is a chance there is something wrong with the board but I would replace the top switch first. They are pretty expensive if I remember correctly and be careful of the wiring colors, the last one I changed had the wire colors reversed but the wire labels were correct. Good luck.

My Husqvarna Viking 980 continues to sew when I take my foot off the petal. Sometimes the stich get very tight when this occurs. Could this be the foot petal or is my circuit board going out?

I have never seen it be the circuit board, always is the foot control switch. I dont understand the stitch getting tight though. And yes, it could be the circuit board.
