Oh, yes, thanks for the fixya ratings, much obliged.

The reason Kaspersky is giving those warnings, is because it regards the online scan as another malicious software. Disable Kaspersky for a while, and run the scan. Dont worry about the warning messages you get just continue with the scan and cleaning.

Restart the PC, go back to the online scan, let it finish. It may take some time for the scan to finish, but let it run.

And oh yes, I suggest AVAST! anti-virus to KAspersky, much more reliable, and free.

Good luck!

Webroot and spysweeper 2011 no longer puts cookies into quarentee section

I have the same problem: Webroot 2011 no longer detects and quarantines cookies. If you go to the Webroot Support page and type "no longer quarantine cookies", it offers the generated issue: "You want to know why Internet Explorer cookies are not detected in a scan"; to which it offers the following answer: "A recent Microsoft security update (KB 2559049) [...check your Windows updater, I got this security update on my computer on August 10th...] prevents Webroot security programs from identifying spy cookies on systems where the update is applied. Although these cookies cannot be detected, your core antivirus and anti-spyware protection is not compromised. Viruses and spyware are still blocked. Webroot engineers are actively investigating options to restore spy cookie detections and any solutions will be provided in an upcoming release." (This statement is not dated; I am looking at it now, August 28th, 2011, on their Webroot Support page.) I have Windows Vista operating system and Webroot 2011 version My Webroot Antivirus with Spy Sweeper hasn't swept up anything in scans in the last couple of weeks, but it did block an internet site last night; so I think it's still working. Hope this helps!

I am having a side-by side configuration error?. Unistalling liveM and reistalling does not work at all. Please help

If you have done reinstalling of your Live Messenger and you still encounter configuration error. Your computer most probably has a virus or spyware. If your anti-virus is updated regulary try to FULL SCAN your PC. I suggest you download CCCLEANER too. To remove all garbage and unwanted cookies stored in your computer.

Believe my account is being hacked into. One of my friends got one of those messages two weeks ago and I noticed i didn't receive emails but then I did. I changed my password. What else can I do???

Password change should secure your account, however depending on the method they originally obtained it it may be related to spyware or similar.
I'd suggest running a spyware/virus check on the computer you check your email on.
Malware Bytes is free and i have found to be very useful.
SuperAntispyware is another option:
Hope this helps.

Hi there !!

Thank you for writing to Fixya.

This is because of the temporary files, cookies, third party toolbars & even could be because of spywares & startup items. So let's work as a team & get it fixed.

1. You need to optimize the Internet Explorer. Here's are the instruction.Ref Link:

Once you have followed the instructions to Optimize the Internet Explorer. I am sure enough that your browser will be better than before. Now, let's stretch this little more.

2. Let's configure the computer in to the clean boot. Here are the instructions. Link:

This is a very good article that helps you find out, which program is causing the delay in your system & help you isolate the program. If you are able to make a note between which program is faulty, Uninstall that program.

3. Now moving down to the 'Final Destination'. Let's run a spyware scan & there are quite a lot that you can opt for.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
- Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
- At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
- If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
- Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
- When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
- Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected

That's it, Reboot the machine & you back in business.

Hope this will help.
Please rate the thread, if you feel you got it resolved & other will be able to find this thread more easily.

Hello there.

I would first try scanning the computer your self. Please click here to start a free online web-based scan of your system, this looks for virus, trojan, spyware infections so should hopefully clean your system. Once the scan completes it should prompt you to remove anything found.

If this doesn't help then yes take the system back to where you purchased it for support. Make sure you backup your files first.

Hope this helps.
