Hi hish

Sure mate... so long as you upgrade me to a FixYa... :)

It is a smallish part situated near the main processor, sometimes even on the front panel PCB. I cant recall exactly where on you model. But will look like one of these, and probably is one. 0,47F 5.5volt is the common value. Best place to get one may be from Farnel(the link i gave you). They are in many countries of the world, and generally have stock. Check it out and get let me know if you found it. :)

robotek

Just got a vintage Onkyo receiver mod # TX-840. I have a very scratchy sound in both A and B right channels on all sources. Figured it was a blob channel HOWEVER this unit has a

Vintage hardware means vintage contacts on all the controls which means oxidation which would cause crackly sound or total silence. Typically, it might be a switch you rarely use, like a Tape Monitor or Mute. It's wise to occasionally (with power OFF) manipulate all manual controls throughput their ranges a number of times to wipe oxides from their contacts. Beyond that a trip to the hifi doctor would be advised.

You need to post the reference number of the IC into Google. My reference book shows that Technics is connected to Panasonic, but it could be out of date.

I have an Onkyo TS-DS939 receiver which worked for quit a while and then would not put out any sound when turned on. I would switch from TV to radio sources and after maybe 20 minutes it would start to...

Since the unit eventually works as expected, I would first look for poor solder connections inside the unit. It is quite possible that hte prolonged storage has damaged a few connections. If you can solder, try looking at the solder connections and resolder any that appear grainy or have rings. Update this if that does not resolve the problem and we'll look further.

Thanks,

I have 1 center channel pre-out on back of my kenwood receiver. how do i hook it to the inputs on onkyo m-282 amp and then to center channel speaker?

Unfortunately can't connect it that way. The pre out is only meant to go directly into an amplifier that has all of the same inputs (front/rear, center and surround), not a standard receiver. (Pre amp to amp only, not pre amp to receiver) If your Onkyo doesn't have all the same inputs as your Kenwood preamp has outputs you will just use your standard left/right outputs from the Kenwood to your Onkyo input (CD, Tape, Phono,DVD etc) then use the outputs (front/rear, center and surround) from your Onkyo receiver and connect directly to your speakers..
