PC video resolution from the PC is too high for the monitor to display, you need to set your PC video resolution to the native resolution spec of the monitor.

My screen resolution was too big. I tried to pic one to shrink it but all i have is a black screen and a floating message stating input not supported how do i fix this. I have tried restarting compute

Probably the monitor you are using does not support the resolution you chose.
Try connecting to another monitor. Some have the capacity to handle a bigger variety of resolutions.

Another trick would be to repeatedly press F8 whilst starting your PC
That should get you into Safe Mode which uses a lower resolution, that your monitor may handle.

Floating gray box that says input not supported

When do you see the grey box? When you are playing a game? If so, try changing the resolution on your screen through the Control Panel...personalization...the resolution scale. You may need a lower resolution in order for the game to be played. I used to get a box that said "signal out of range". It wouldn't go away until I lowered the resolution in order to play that particular game. You can always change it back to your original resolution. Did you have a message in the grey box.

When i put pc on this message comes up on screen saying input not supported and it floats round in a little box.

Hello,
This generally means you have the display resolution set higher then the monitor can support. To fix this press F8 after you turn the computer on. You may have to press it a couple times before the windows loading screen. A black menu will come up. Select safe mode. Your PC will load into safe mode with minimal drivers and settings. Go to the control panel and select display. Change your screen resolution to something lower then the setting is is at right now. If your screen is 19" or smaller try a setting of 1024x768 for starters. If its 20" or higher try 1280x1024 for starters.

Hi, I am having problems with my ASK C5 compact projector, after it has run through its auto input search and has found the pc, it will only project a scrambled frozen vesion of the screen, all the menus...

Try changing the resolution of the pc, sometime the projectors can not lock on to all resolution rates of the pc's, 1024 X 768 is a common resolutions that should be ok. If that doesn't work try another; 800 x 600. Also make sure if you are using a 15 pin HD VGA connection cable that the projector input is in the Analog mode.

My Dell E207WFP LCD monitor has a blank screen with the following message in the middle-2:Analog input cannot display this video mode optimum resolution 1680x1050 60Hz. It says this also for #1. This...

Hello!

For this issue you might reconsider focusing on your CPU Tower, the way you're describing the issue, the monitor losses it connection from the computer, therefore showing the "analog input..." This is a power saving feature of your monitor. This means that the monitor is no longer a signal from your computer. Possible points of failure for this one could be, PSU, memory, motherboard or add on video card if you have one installed, best approach i could suggest is to run diagnostics- if your still able to boot the computer - Try powering up the computer, when you see the Dell logo tap F12 several times until you see some options then look for diagnostics, then run it..(this is for a DELL pc) if it fails then a possible hardware issue, if your pc still have warranty, call in for help.

Good luck!

Hope it helps!

Acer al1716 monitor input not supported

You get the message because the game try to run at the PC video resolution that you monitor cannot display/support. You need to run your game at native resolution of the monitor.

Input not supported - floating gray message Win 7

Hi,
You haven't specified what monitor you use but the gray message is most likely due to your screen not being able to handle the high resolution. Try setting it to a resolution below 1600 x 1200.
Best wishes,

INPUT NOT SUPPORTED

Start your Windows in Safe Mode (pressing F8) during boot process and adjust your Display Settings to a lower resolution.... say 1024 x 768. Once fixed, you can play around again increasing the resolution a notch at a time. Fix ya!
