My CT- 36HL43G TV worked fine for 5 years with no issues. This morning, nothing!!! No picture, no sound, no power light (zilch!). I will try the fuse replacement fix this weekend. Sure would have been nice if they made it more servicable.

If you carefully remove the back, follow the AC power cord to where at attaches to the main board. There will be a small glass fuse at that spot, and it is a GMA 6.3 Amp fuse. Simply pop the old fuse out and replace it with a new one and the set should come right back on.

Battery fully charged, bike turned on after, but on 2nd try after couple of hours, no power

Based on what you've said here I would say that either the battery is incapable of maintaining a charge or something is draining the battery. To test to see if something is draining it, disconnect the positive cable and put an ameter between the cable and the battery to see what current is being 'used' when the ignition switch is off. It should read ZERO amps. If there is current flowing then something is draining the battery - pull fuses to find the culprit. If the drain shows ZERO amps then it's possible the battery is tired and needs to be replaced. Motorcycle batteries don't usually last more than a few years.

I hope this helped. Sorry for any typos.

The battery was replaced in April 2011. I have had vehicle for 7 years and only put about 5k miles a year on car. I have never had any issues with starting the car until I replaced the battery. I have had...

A parasitic drain is basically caused by something being left on, but there is a simple way to find out. Once you have had your battery charged an/or have driven for at least 20 mins, you can condust the following diagnostic:
Making sure all interior lights are off, attach a voltmeter to the battery to monitor the voltage.
Locate the fuse panel.
Remove a fuse. Observe the voltage on voltmeter. If it doesn't change significantly, replace fuse and proceed to next fuse until all fuses are tested. Once you find a fuse that changes the volts by at least 2 volts, you have located the circuit creating the drain. Consult your owner's manual to see what accessories that fuse powers, then you can see if the component is stuck on, left on, or is defective. Good luck.

During a thunder storm our polaroid tv went out..we have changed the fuse but it still isn't working..any other suggestions?

Call your homeowners' insurance agent. Seriously, if the set is worth more than your insurance deductible, you will want an expert evaluation on whether the set can be profitably repaired so you can make a claim if necessary.

Was the first fuse blown? Did the second fuse blow? If the answer to both questions is yes, then you have a fried power supply switching transistor - at a minimum. You might even see cracked or burned parts on the board that has the fuse on it (look at the parts on or near the finned metal radiators). Lightning typically damages a number of parts. You may find it cheaper to replace the entire power supply board, and hope the rest of the set isn't damaged.

If both fuses are good, that could be worse news, because that implies lightning got in through the antenna/cable input and zapped the main circuit board. This is the second-most expensive part of the set after the LCD panel.

A suggestion for "next time": if a TV set blows a fuse, get the problem fixed first before risking a new fuse on it. It's rare that a power surge blows the fuse without also breaking something else. The fuse is intended to minimize damage and prevent fire in case something in the TV shorts out or the surge protection components are unable to handle a high energy pulse on the power line. It's not guaranteed to protect the set from damage.

Cigarette/radio is a 15amp fuse located in the panel, middle row, bottom fuse. Basically you have 3 colums and 4 rows of fuses in there.

LG microwave appears to have fuse blown. Blown at 6 months and now again at 18 months. Any info. on this being a chronic problem? Can this be replaced by homeowner?

It may be a loose fuse holder.

If you can easily rotate the fuse with your fingers, then the holder is too loose and it needs to be replace, not just tightened with pliers.

Another giveaway is if the fuse has a dark ring and/or small ball of solder at the point where one of the end caps meets the ceramic body of the fuse.

The location of the fuse will depend on the model, but it's usually pretty simple.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.
