i plug in my new iomega 500GB external hard drive but nothing happens?
no light shows up, nothing on my computer?
what should i do?
its like it doesnt recognise the hard drive.
i put my flat mates one in and it works fine
-   I have the same problem. The hard drive is dead. I purchased it in November of 2007 and it is still on warranty. Iomega will replace the hard drive, but charges for data recovery. This is the first and last Iomega product that I will ever buy!

My 500 GB Iomega external HD works like a charm on my MAC desktop PPC, but when I plug it into my Pentium MAC laptop it begins clicking and its ability to read data stalls and fails. Why would it work without fail on MAC PPC and fail so consitently on the Pentium MAC??

Oneday I plugged my hard drive in, and turned it on on the switch on the end of it, the blue light came on, it gave no evidence of any internal parts moving and then the light just faded away as if turning off. I don't know whats happened to it at all. I think it could possibly be something to do with the power input socket? Thanks!
