Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My ISP is comcast.net, and I have been connecting to their home page directly, by clicking the icon for Internet Explorer on my desk top. Recently, the home page for another entity, "alot," appeared, and I cannot delete or remove it. I go to Tools Internet Options, General, delete "alot" from the box for ISP home page, and type in "comcast, net," but cannot activate it because the box for "apply," or "O.K." is below the bottom of my monitor screen, even when I raise the dialogue box as high as possible with my mouse. HEEEEELP!!! Cecil

Hi,

Have you tried increasing the Screen Resolution to 1024 X 768? This could be done by right clicking on any clear area of your desktop, click on "Properties", click on "Settings" tab, move the Screen resolution slider till it shows 1024X768, Apply, OK. Should you be able to do this, then the "Apply" and "OK" buttons should now be visible. If for some reason you cannot set it to 1024X768, then 800 X 600 should also work albeit a little larger.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Does this only happen when you try to access a page from 'www.comcast.net' ?

Within Internet Explorer, click Tools.
Click Internet Options.
Under the "Browsing History" section, click Delete,
to remove any "temporary" files.
Then, try again to access COMCAST's web-site.

When connected to the internet, my acer won't display anywebpages.

There is a difference of have your machine connected to the internet and you being connected to your network...If you are with Verizon, Comcast, or folks like that, give them a shout and they will take over your machine and connect you in no time. Besides that is what you are paying for when you pick your ISP (internet SERVICE provider)
Good luck my friend,

Hi. I am assuming you are talking about the page that Internet Explorer goes to when you first open it. If that is the case, try this:

Windows Vista (all versions)

1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button getopencontent.aspx?assetid=4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml, and then clicking Internet Explorer.
2. Navigate to the webpage you would like to set as the home page.
3. Click the arrow to the right of the Home button getopencontent.aspx?assetid=4aa01e82-2732-4ac7-b246-a06c904f2c2c&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml, and then click Add or Change home page.
In the Add or Change Home Page dialog box, do one of the following:
• To make the current webpage your only home page, click Use this webpage as your only home page.
• 4. To start a home page tab set or to add the current webpage to your set of home page tabs, click Add this webpage to your home page tabs.
• To replace your existing home page or home page tab set with the webpages you currently have open, click Use the current tab set as your home page. This option will only be available if you have more than one tab open in Internet Explorer.
5. Click Yes to save your changes.

Windows XP (all versions)

1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Programs or All Programs, and clicking Internet Explorer.
2. Navigate to the webpage you would like to set as the home page.
3. On the pull-down menus at the top of the window, click the Tools menu and choose Internet Options (if the Tools is not showing at the top of the page, you can access it using the Tools pull-down menu located on the right side of the window).
4. To make the current webpage your home page, click the “Use Current” button.
5. Click OK to save your changes.

Hope this helps!

Open Internet Explorer, under the tools tab, select "Internet options". Once there, select the "Connections" tab. At the top you will see, "To setup and Internet connection, click "Setup", click on "Setup", once there, click "next", On the next page, make sure "connect to the internet" is selected and click next. On the next page click, "Setup my connection manually", click next. On the next page select(Make sure it reads exactly as follows), "Connect using a broadband connection that is always on", click next. On the next page, click "finish". That should do it.
