Please help me, I bought a HP Pavillion dv2000 Laptop which came with a built-in Windows Vista. Thats cool, but the problem arises when I try to install windows XP. After inserting the Windows XP SP2 CD and after primary driver loading it is unable to detect my harddisk . Anyone please help me resolving this issue.
-   Disable SATA in BIOS, well but there is no option in Bios to disable or enable SATA. Lately HP DV2000 comes with bios without this option
(DV2000 - DV2680ee, I lost a lot of money and time with this model)
Plz anybody has any other clue.. -   FEDUPWithlap

Compaq nx5000 laptop with new battery and new power supply does not power up whether on battery, AC...
Compaq nx5000 laptop with new battery and new power supply does not power up whether on battery, AC only, or both. When plugged in without battery no lights at all; when plugged in with battery installed (after being charged overnight), the lightning bolt lights up. Push the on button and light goes out, the fan starts up, but within 5 seconds the fan shuts off and the light comes back on. Every great once in awhile it turned on, logged in, but shut down within 5 minutes, but the On light stayed on until power button held down 10 sec.or so. I disassembled and reseated all connections (I have worked on laptops before), reseated all memmory cards, etc. Same thing. Ideas?
