Replacement pickup lens assembly

My DENON DVM 2815 wont read any type of disc. I am told that the pickup lens is faulty. The original factory replacement costs almost $200.00. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement lens or lens assembly that wont cost me an arm and a leg? Thanks

My Denon DVM-1800 says no disc what do I do?

I have had the same thing happen with my blu-ray. I have tried cleaning the disc; the lens, occasionally with success. flashing the bios. also known as update of the system [can be done online {if equipped} of mine also has a usb port {download the correct file to a USB drive and re-power DVD with the drive in place}]. if these things don't work try manufacturer tech support. I had mine replaced because it wpould NOT flash. good luck.

How to change defective motor of portable DVD Player

jdvillanueva.jpg
This portable dvd player always says "no disc" everytime the disc's load.
I've checked it and found the faulty parts. The spindle motor that spin the disc.

Here's the step diagnosing the faulty motor.

1. Open the bottom cover of the portable dvd where the lens assembly is located together with the motor.

jdvillanueva_0.jpg

2.Pull-out the disc holder of the motor using the flat screw driver, you will see the small screw securing the motor from the assembly.

3. Unsrew the motor from the assembly.
4. Using the multitester set it at ohmmeter (X1) then test the motor.
Good Motor - reads fairly high resistance and it will spin.
Bad Motor - reads low resistance and it will not spin.
This test is also applicable at any DVD player.
5. After you confirmed that the motor was faulty then replace it with the new one and your unit will get back to normal again.
Upon installing the new motor, you have to consider the clearance of the spindle motor disc holder. Improper clearance will affect the reading of the optical lens. (check the clearance from the original motor)

Aside from the motor the most common problem also with no disc error is the FF:

Dirty Lens - this is prone to dust and any fine foreign objects that will block the optical lens from reading, gentle clean it with a soft cotton buds.

Lens ribbon - check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the lead/contact with pencil eraser.

Hint : Almost 50% of my related dvd problem I've encountered with no disc error are caused by defective motor/ribbon, lens covered with dust. So you have an idea, try it to save some money sending your unit at the repair shop.
Good Luck.

Hope my tips may help you.

Do I need a dvd cleaner and what kind

Hello
DVD cleaner is a kind of CD, which will have cleaning pads sticked on it. When we insert the disc in any disc player, this cleaning pad will come in contact with the lens of the reading head. As the cleaning CD spins at hing speed inside the disc player, it will wipe out all the dirt and dust, if accumulated on the lens. Thus cleaning of laser pickup lens occurs.
This cleaning disc can be boutght from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. Even after using this disc, your DVD player does not reads any disc, its laser pickup assembly is faulty, and should be replaced. OK.

Bush portable DVD player will not load my disc

Hello
Just put in an audio CD disc or an MP3 disc, and see whether it reads them or not. If the player can read these discs, and only refuses to read DVD discs, make sure that the laser pickup unit of it is faulty, and should be replaced with same type and number. If none of them reads, there are two possibilities, the first one is of laser pickup disc itself and the second one is the strip wire [a flat flexible cable connected between laser pickup unit and the mainboard of the player] is faulty. First replace the strip wire. If it helps you, it's OK. If not replace the laser pickup unit also. The strip wire can be bought from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. When buying laser pickup unit, its number must be noted, and exact replacement should be done. Otherwise, it won't match with the main board. OK.

Wont read dvd or cd

The problem is the laser pickup assembly, the laser pickup gets weaker overtime until it can not read the disc, or the pladder motor becomes defective. One possible solution is clean the laser lens with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol, carefully clean the lens and wipe excess off. If this fails it is cheaper to replace the dvd player.

Disc error

Hello,

how long have you been using the player. There is every tendency that the lens (laser) of your player is weak and that's why it cannot read or play DVDs.

The lens (laser) is what makes the player reads discs, and if the lens is weak/dirty, there is no way it can read or play disc.

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, if that does not solve the problem, then its means, the lens needs to be changed completely.

Good luck.

NOT READING DVD DISC

The only thing you can do is try cleaning the lens. Otherwise the laser assembly needs replacement.
