Question about Video Game Consoles & Games
Like the Xbox 360 its probably due to a bad laser or its ability to track the data. I would call sony and explain the issue and be nice and see if you can get them to fix it for free. i did this with my PS2 with the same problem. I told them that i heard it was because it was part of a shipment of bad PS3's and that your friends are also having issues. They may give you the free code to put on the shipping label so they repair it for free.
It may or may not work. I did this with Contra with the PS2. The game was in a cd data format but put onto a DVD disk and so the laser wouldnt read it right. I explained what was happening and i told them that i heard about the first PS2's being defective and all that and the guy gave me a shipping code and some info to wright on the box and they replaced the laser for free.
