Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

I tried to reprogram the key code for my garage door opener and thought i was successful, but neither the new code nor the old code works. The garage is closed with no access from inside the house. Is it possible to reprogram either the remotes or keypad without pressing the learn button inside the garage. The handle for the garage is not on the door so we cannot even manually enter to access the motor unit inside. Please let me know how the remotes/keypad can be reprogrammed to get into our garage.

You need to use the learn key you cannot do it externally due to security reasons, If you could then anyone could.

Try it this way.

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to the keypad and key in any 4 digit code you like and press enter.

Chamberlain Whisper drive remote control unit not working

THE NEW REMOTE MAY NOT BE THE CORRECT SYSTEM FOR THE UNIT YOU HAVE.
THE ONE THAT DOESN'T WORK MOST LIKELY NEEDS A NEW BATTERY.
NOTE IT MUST BE REPROGRAMED AFTER CHANGING THE BATTERY

Reprogram key pad for garage door opener

To program the keypad, you will have to press the LEARN button on the back of the garage door opener console and when it begins to flash, enter a new 4 digit code on your keypad and press enter. You should hear a click and see the lights on the opener flash.
