Wrt54g V8 Suddenly stopped working

Hello, i have been using my WRT54G v8 for about a year now. One day, my router stopped working all together. I can connect to the internet directly though my modem, but not through my router. When i plug my router in with Ethernet cables and all, the Internet light is on, and my laptop gets the connection to the router but still no internet.. I can go and configure my router and everything through 192.168.1.1 and everything, but nothing so far has fixed this issue.

When you connect to your router and type ipconfig in DOS, what does it assign your computer for an IP?

Hello!

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router

    TRY THIS LAST 3 OPTION

    OPTION 1:

-- do you have username and password from century tel? if yes, set the router to PPPoE connection and put your whole century tel email address on the username box and your century tel password on the password box. save the settings and check the status of the router if you are connected with ip address

    OPTION 2:

-- if you dont have a username and password, go the the mac clone tab of your router, enable mac clone and type in your computers physical address/mac address.

-- restart the pc and check internet connection again

-- make sure you dont have any 3rd party firewall enabled on your computer

-- check your browser settings, delete all temporary files, cookies and try to lower down the security settings

    OPTION 3

-- change the lan ip address of your router to 192.168.2.1

-- shut down pc, router and modem, after 5 mins turn on modem, router and pc and check internet connection

Hi, I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, and every time I want to connect with my WIFI the router reboots. This issue only happens with my Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, other phones and devices work just fine....

Hello,

Just had same problems with my brand new Xperia Mini Pro and old WRT54G ver 5. Every time I connected with WiFi the router restarted (once it returned to factory settings). I updated the router firmware to latest version (1.00.6 to 1.02.8) and after this it works fine.

Best Regards
Peder

NEED SETUP CD FOR THE LINKSYS WRT54G V8 ROUTER

You don't need a setup CD you can configure the router through the web admin page. Type the address of your router into the address bar of your browser and leave the username blank and use 'admin' as the password. The address of the router will be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, you can confirm by opening the command prompt (hold windows key and hit r, then type 'cmd' then type 'ipconfig /all' and look at the value for default gateway)

You should be able to go to the Linksys website and download it. That is how I have normally done it with mine.

I have a wrt54g v8 router. Too slow, need to

The firmware will not speed up the router.

If you do upgrade firmware you will have to redo setting as they will be set back to factory after the upgrade.

If you need more speed first make sure its not your computer, or internet connection that is slow.

Think about getting a newer faster router....that one you have there is pretty outdated.

There is no software necessary. You only need to configure the router by accessing http://192.168.1.1. I hope this helps.
