We cannot get into the garage and neither my keypad nor the openers are working. I have no access to the garage through the house to press the learn button. I have to get into the garage. Please help.

None of these are the problem. I tried to change the code last night and thought I was successful but neither the old code or the new code work. All the batteries and power is fine. I need to reprogram the key pad without access the the learn button on the unit inside the garage.

None of your suggestions are the problem. I tried to reprogram the keypad with a new code last night and thought I was successful, but neither the old code nor the new code work. I need to reprogram the keypad and remotes without access to the unit inside the garage. It's a craftsman 315. Is this doable?

Hi,

There are only few reasons for the same. The below the reasons that you need to check :-

* No power. Check to make sure the outlet has power. Plug in the opener. There may be a light switch that turns the outlet "On" make sure that it is on. Also check fuse box or circuit breaker.
* Overload protector tripped in motor. wait 15 minutes, after the motor has cooled down try to operate again.
* Shorted door control or shorted bell wire. Remove wires and retest. Repair bell wire or door control

If still problem persists, it could be a faulty control board, sometimes referred as motherboard. You need to give a service call for the same.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

There is nothing much you could do. Make sure that the batteries are good.

    To start fresh:

    Erase all remotes control codes

Press and hold the SRT button on the opener panel until the indicator light turns off (about 6 seconds).

    Reprogram:

    1. With door closed, press and hold a remote control button.

    2. Press and hold the Light button on the door control.

    3. Press and hold the door control push button

    4. After the opener light flashes, release all buttons.

    Test

Have you followed the correct procedure for programming?

Make sure that the battery is in correct position.

Did you check the antenna on the opener? Try to move it in the other direction.

Unless, you need to give a service call for the same.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Seems you've done everything right. Press and immediately release the smart/learn button and then walk over and key in a 4 digit code and press enter. If you are sure the battery in the keypad is good then I think your keypad is on the fritz or the wrong one for that opener.

I have a chamberlain opener Model 3280. I have tried to set my three button and keypad model 976LM remotes from my old house using the learn button, but it just won't learn the remotes. I have tried...

For your hand remotes try this:

Press and hold the button down on the remote while you press and immediately release the learn button.

For the keypad:

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to the keypad and key in any 4 digit code you like and press enter.

If this doesn't work your logic board is bad.

I HAVE ONE OF THESE GARAGES AND MY HUSBAND GARAGE OPENER WAS STOLEN OUT OF HIS CAR IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THAT REMOTE WILL NEVER WORK AGAIN AND...

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and hold this button for 6 seconds. This will erase the codes and none of the remotes will work. Now you need to program the remotes you have.

Hold down the button on the remote while you press and immediately release the smart/learn button. Do this for each remote you have.

If you have a wireless keypad you need to:

Press and immediately release the smart/learn button and then walk over to the keypad and key in your 4 digit code and press enter.

We just moved in our house in January and our keypad on our 1/2HP Liftmaster stopped working. I have changed the battery and when I try the code the backlight blinks several times but the door never opens....

Try programming the keypad by doing this:

Press and immediately release the smart/learn button and then walk over to your keypad and key in any 4 digit code you like and press enter. If this doesn't work you keypad has quit.

On the rear of the g. door opener, there is a learn buttom.

The first step is to push this button in.

Then go to the remote and enter the new code you want

Press and hold the enter button.

The lights will blink and or you will hear two clicks.

The code you entered should be learned and ready to use

Garage door keypad & remote

You need to sync both. I have a LiftMaster. If you want to change the code on your keypad you need to open up the garage door motor compartment where the light is (mine is in the back). Press the learn button, within 30 seconds enter the new code on your keypad and hold down the enter button for several seconds until the light on the opener blinks to tell you it has learned the code. Test the new code to see if it works. If the new keypad code works, then try the remote. My remote will not work after I reprogram the keypad. If the remote does not work (check battery) then climb back up the ladder and press the learn button on the garage door motor again, press the remote button and hold down until the light blinks again and the opener has learned the new code. This process works when I need to sync my remote and keypad. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Sears Craftsman Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model and a LiftMaster Chamberlain Professional Garage Door

Hello,

I had the same frustrating dilemma with my Craftsman LiftMaster garage door and Keypad, Model 139.53754-01 (dated 10/06; and has the # 315 MHz).

To resolve “the dilemma”, grab your keypad, climb up on a ladder to access the garage door opener’s motor unit. On the right side of the motor unit, remove the white plastic casing by pressing buttons on each side and pulling down. This will expose the programming area, and for our purposes, the “Learn” button.

1. On the motor unit, press and release the “Learn” button. The Learn indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds.

2. Within 30 seconds, enter a four digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice on the keypad. Then press and hold the ENTER button.

3. Release the ENTER button when the motor unit lights blink. The code has been “learned”/stored/activated.

Good Luck, and I Hope this Helps!
Gail
For possible future reference:

How to change an existing, known PIN
(Changing an existing PIN can be done with the wireless remote keypad, and does not require access of the motor unit.)

From the keypad:

1. Enter the four digits of the present PIN, then press and hold the # button. The opener light will blink twice. Release the # button.

2. Enter your new 4-digit PIN and press Enter. The motor unit lights will blink once when the PIN has been “learned”/stored/activated. Test by entering the new PIN, and pressing Enter.
