My IBM Wheelwriter 3 does not print. Changed ribbons but no result.

Try typing on a milti part form or a carbon if the carbons are OK it is a ribbon problem if not you probably need a print solenoid cap. If the carbons are OK the big black plastic gear may be jammed tooth for tooth with the motot gear try wiggling it back and forth.

Gotta clean the wheel off with old ink sometimes this can be a problem but the ribbon might not be seated properly

I just replaced a ribbon in a 3500 IBM wheelrider ribbon with the following product which is supposed to be combatible.

there should be a "switch" on the right side of your keypad to move to the ink position

IBM Wheelwriter 3 won't type


Print hammer selenoid cap is broken, or print hammer selenoid is gummed up.

I Have an IBM selectric system/2000 Wheelwriter 3


The platen probably worked itself out press firmly down on both ends of the platen it slould click into place. If it won't stay you will need a platen.

Characters do not print.


The print solenoid plunger has a plastic cap on the end of the plunger it is probably broken. They are available but you need a bit of mechanical ability to install.

The print solenoid, just inside the L. printer side frame has a plastic cap on the plunger it is probably broken, they are available but a little tricky to install.

Put new ribbon cartridge in ibm wheelwriter 3 not printing now


If the ribbon is lifting up you probably have a cracked print solenoid plunger cap. They are available but a little tricky to install.

rub your finger over the ribbon if no ink on fingers then your ribbon is dry little solution for old ribbons is cotton and little water over ribbon not too much

Most likely the plastic cap on the print solenoid is broken they are available but are a bit tricky to install.
