Question about Compaq Presario M2000 Notebook
Some bios screens show the cpu heat. You could compare the temp when starting the pc versus after about 50mins. If this proves it's overheating you could see if a local repair centre could refit a new heatsink or fan, or you could try doing yourself using ebay parts and a screw driver. Better still if you have a warranty then I'd return it. Sometimes Windows power settings or general bugs may come into play. So another solution is to see if you get the same affect by installing ubuntu on part of the hard disk to see if it runs for longer. Be wary though, once installed ubuntu can be hard to remove unless you're happy to scour the net for solutions. I did it but the grub screen (os choices on boot up) is the most difficult to get rid of. Also check ubuntu is compatible with that machine.
