Download trinity restore iso and boot your laptop using a cd. I think it'll have similar repair options and one of them may do the trick.

How do I run a set up program

Generally, one enters the BIOS Setup screen by pressing either F2 or Del. There is usually a message on the bottom of the first boot screen that indicates what button is correct for that model.

Looking further into the details that you have given, it seems that your CMOS battery has died, so you will need to replace that. (This is what is causing the "Time of Day Not Set" message most likely.) You can get the appropriate battery at Radio Shack (if nowhere else) for about $5 or $6.

I had lost my Dell Latitude D600 Bios passowrd. So I removed the comos battery (behind main battery) and reinstalled it. But now my laptop is giving this message on bootup "invalid system...

  1. Set the BIOS to defaults:

  2. Restart your Dell laptop. Click on "Start," "Turn off Computer" and "Restart."

  3. Press "F2" during the boot process to enter the BIOS. Press "F2" before the Windows loading screen. Certain models may use a different key. The key will be displayed during the boot process. For most Dell models, the key is "F2."
  4. Use the "Alt" + "F" key combination to load defaults.
  5. Press "Esc" on your Dell laptop keyboard to save and exit.
  6. Choose the "Enter" key to save all changes and exit the BIOS screen. Allow your laptop to restart for BIOS settings to reset.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Press F2 to enter the system setup. Someone or something (Bad Motherboard battery most likely) has reset the BIOS defaults, which includes the Floppy diskette drive controller to be ON. Set Diskette Drive to NONE, then under integrated Devices, set diskette controller to off, save settings and reboot
(ALT + B)

if issue re-occurs then the watch battery on motherboard is bad and needs to be replaced

Invalid configuration information-please run SETUP program

Here is what you do, go into the BIOS setup, usually you press the DEL key OR F2 or whatever your one is, IT should say on screen as it boots up.... it says "Press YOUR- KEY Key for SETUP". So, get into setup, using your manual ensure it is set correctly. Then SAVE SETTING and exit All should be good now.

Dell d600 displays disk error read

check your bios settings and see if the drives are configured right. the c drive must be drive 0. the other thing comes to mind here is the hd has become corrupted or a bad read head in the drive. try running setup defaults. if this dosent work it might be time to restore it, or replace the harddrive.
