Mine was doing that too... you have to go in on ImageBrowser and there is a box you can check to make sure they automatically download whenever you hook the camera up to the computer.

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Have a nikon coolpix 3200 installed the picture project onto computer but doesn't open when camera is hooked up to computer like it says it's supposed to. even when I open it, it will not transfer pictures...

Picture Project was retired years ago, replaced by Nikon Transfer and Nikon ViewNX. You can download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software from
http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

I have a coolpix p2 digital camera and I just want to know how I hook up my digital camera to my computer because the instruction book that I have is in spanish. can you please help

You can download the user manual (English) from:
http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/manuals/coolpix/P1P2_en.pdf

The following is taken from the manual (page 61):
"Using the UC-E6 USB cable and PictureProject software provided with your camera,
you can transfer photographs and movies to a computer and view them. Before
images can be transferred (copied) to your computer, PictureProject must be
installed. For information on installing PictureProject, see the Quick Start Guide
and the PictureProject Reference Manual (on CD).
You can transfer images to a computer using a wireless LAN and play back the
pictures on computer. See "Wireless Transfer Mode" (c132) for more information."

Or you can use the Windows XP software. Step by step instructions on downloading and installing the software is given in the following website:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/takeit/transfer.mspx

What software are you using now? You can download the latest version of Nikon Transfer from http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

In addition to Nikon Transfer there are plenty of other photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

When I try to download the pictures, the camera just turns off instead of initiating download

First download the latest drivers for your camera, then turn camera on, then hook to USB. (camera screen will look black) while it is hooked to pc.
Then transfer your pictures or sync device with media player

are using the kodak software to transfer? your default maybe microsoft and doesn't recognise the video. go to windows explorer - my computer. in there (with the camera hooked up and powered up. cancel download. in my computer you should see the camera on the left as a drive/storage device ect. double click and you will see your photos and videos. select all (control/a) and copy to your hard drive in your favorite spot. Don't forget to back up photos to cd/dvd as hard copys! just incase :)
you mayneed to reinstall the kodak software to do it in auto.

Putting Internal Pic's on the SD card

Well one option would be to download the images from the cameras internal card to your computer and then transfer them to the card. I have a card reader so it would be easy to do, or if your computer has a slot for the card that would work too. Or, just hook your camera up to the computer and use the image downloading wizard that pops up in XP. Or, if it doesn't show/pop up, just hook up camera to 'puter via cord & then click on my computer and you'll see the camera listed. Move image files & then you may need a card reader to transfer images to xd. Not sure why you would want to keep them on the XD card except to transport them around to another 'puter.
