Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

Hi I am in Australia in case you need to know. I have a ps3 connected to a tpg ADSL 2+ connection via dynalink RTA 1025W modem router. Can't get connected to COD modern warfare 2 online... Hangs at "fetching playlists, uploading ranks and unlocks, connecting to matchmaking server". Everything else seems to be working fine and my broadband connection via ethernet cable tells me it's running at around 4 megabits per second when i look at my iview tv in ps3. Have rung TPG and they say it's not their issue as it might be the "PS3 or the cable or magnetic interference". So have turned off computer in same room and changed cables. Other games work for at least a little while (but disconnect fairly frequently). This is my first online gaming experience and it sux. Can someone please help me? Don't even want to sound desperate at all, because have just about given up and accepting "well that's just life", and "it's only a game and does it really matter?". Somehow have ended up here at this screen as I search through countless resolves. Have set up new IP addresses and such courtesy of other internet sites but alas.... Anyway.... if you can help then maybe I can help you.... coz otherwise I just will have to abandon this TPG crowd I have just locked into contract with.... pay them off and get another ADSL or cable connection..... and in the background the PS3 connection continues to hang..... yawn. Thanks for reading. Happy times to you! James

I dont know how to get wireless internet

Check the ADSL or cable modem status light. If it is solid green, it indicates that your ADSL/cable modem has a good connection. If the light is off, check modem's physical connection.

Verify that the Internet light on your wireless router is solid or blinking green. It indicates a good connection and correct wiring.

When done, log in to the web interface of your router device and check if it can obtain the IP address from your ISP or not.

If you see 0.0.0.0, the router is not obtaining the IP address. It can happen due to various reasons. Contact your ISP and ask for the details including username, password for PPPoE etc. and try to connect to the Internet again afterwards.

You may also need to configure the default gateway settings also. To configure your router device as the default gateway, reboot your PC. When done, open Command Prompt, type 'ipconfig/all' and hit Enter. Check Default Gateway

If you are still unable to browse the Internet, ping your router's connection to the PC.

The Request timed out error can occur due to two things: (1). incorrect physical connection between your router device and the PC or (2) incorrect wireless network setup & configuration. Recheck and correct the Ethernet connection between your PC and the router device.

When done, check back if you can browse the Internet or not.

I think Not.
There are ADSL wireless routers however.
I guess your purpose is to make your ADSL modem available wirelessly, you can connect the
modem via lan line to the wireless and use that as a router.

Can not get my adsl modem to connect through ASUS wireless router

it could be the modem and the router has the same ip address. the asus router has an ip of 192.168.1.1, check if the dynalink modem has an ip of 192.168.1.x. if so, change the router's ip to 192.168.x.x (e.g. 192.168.2.1) then see if you'll be able to connect to the internet while the modem is connected to the wan port of the router
