SyncMaster 214T Flicker Repair

Thank you for a great solution. I have the exact problem, and will look for bulging capacitors... Can you share the method you used to open the monitor so as to not damage the plastic?

My screen just started flickering RAPIDLY...and it won't stop. I've tried everything I know to do. The monitor is not that only...only about 18 months.

Hello, It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will
blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors
overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine.We
just posted a repair guide showing how to remove the case and replace
the parts. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and
    - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one
the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution. Buddy Corporate Computer www.ccl-la.com Over 21 years of computer and printer support/repair

Sycmaster 204T works great for 20 seconds then screen blanks

Hello Carl,
That problem could be caused by either bad capacitors on the power supply board or a bad back light bulb in the panel. The first thing to check would be the capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a link with a few pictures of how to dis-assemble the unit and what to look for. The tops of the capacitors should be flat, if they are domed or have any bulging then they need to be replaced. If all of the capacitors look good then it is most likely the back light bulb. This can be replaced by it is much more involved.

Samsung syncmaster 215tw will only display faint blue screen-no images.

Hello,

Check for a failure of the capacitors on the power supply board. This is a common problem with these units and its a very easy repair. Here is a link to a repair guide for the SyncMaster 214T which uses the ame power supply board so the repair information would be the same for the 2 units.

Flickering or wavy picture is a very common symptom of failing capacitors in the power supply board. This is a very easy repair, it just requires replacing the 6 capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a link to a repair guide for the SyncMaster 214T which uses the same NP-20 power supply board so the repair information will be the same.

Hello,

Flashing or flickering is a common indication of failing capacitors in the power supply board. The fix is very simple and just requires replacing 5 capacitors on the board. They will need to be soldered. Here is a link to a repair guide for the Samsung 214T units. http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/samsung-214t-repair/

Samsung 214T wakes up from hybernation flickering (Windows 7)

Hello,

A flickering display usually indicated a failing power supply. Check out our web site at www.ccl-la.com We have a free step by step repair guide for the 214t that will show you how to open the case. Once inside look at the power supply for parts called capacitors. The tops should be perfectly flat and I would bet your have bulges which indicate they are damaged. If you find bad caps and them replace them you should be back going without any flickering. Many LCD monitors will have issues after 2-3 years of use. If you have any more questions just let us know.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

214T - flickers radidly

Yes,

A flickering screen indicates the power supply is not properly filtering the output power. This happens when the capacitors on the power board start failing. Here is a link to a repair guide that shows how to dis-assemble the unit and what to look for and replace on the power supply board. The repair guide also has videos showing the process.
