Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I am trying to print a photograph (Kodak camera) of my dog lying in a wooded field. The colour looks fine on -screen but prints completely differently. Her brown hair becomes red/purple and green grass either yellow or grey depending on the light. Her white chest blaze becomes yellow. Are you able to advise please. Angela Perrin-Brown

It is possible that the printer and PC has a software conflict and unless there is a ink - colour levels of red, blue and green- level down i would advice you to follow the following steps. However if the ink levels are down please replace before you attempt the following.
If printing from the PC
1. Remove the printer and uninstall the printer's software by using remove program in the control panel.
2.Use the given printer software to reload th software following the steps in the cd.
3. Connect the printer once again , it will be detected and installated.
4. check for the printer parameters, the ink levels.
5. take a test print and confirm the quality of a colour print. If OK the colour purity/white balance should be OK.
If not there could be fault in the printing head, might have to replace.
If directly printing from camera use the reset after shutting off power, use maintenance for head cleaning , take a test print self test, ,connect camera and print once again.
If there is colour impurity, try cleaning the head one again.
if not it is possible that ink level is unbalanced or head faulty

Why is the colour in my photographs not printing as they are in my laptop I have added new inks and cleaned the printing heads

Anonymous, there's a whole science of "color management" that you've invoked. First, what you're seeing is truly caused by lack of "calibration" in any stage of your workflow.
Your camera takes pictures, and whatever colors it sees are what it sees.
Your monitor shows you colors, but there's no standard calibration involved.
Your printer prints colors, but it too isn't calibrated to any standard.\

Assume for a minute that your monitor is set up to be a little too dark. You edit the pictures, and lighten them up so they look ok on screen. Now, when you print the picture, it's too light.

I've had similar issues, and have ended up purchasing a monitor calibration tool (Color Munki Smile) to calibrate my monitor, software "Profile Prism" to calibrate my printer, and now the prints I get look almost exactly like what I see on screen...

Brother MFC-6490CW not printing properly. Need a deep clean code please?

Hold down the menu key. While still holding the menu key, unplug the machine and plug it back in. Do not let go of the key until the machine reboots and the screen says "maintenence". Hit the following keys: 7, 6, 4,black start. The machine will then go into "power purge" or deep clean mode for about 5-7 minutes. When complete hit: 99 to get out of maintanence and reboot. Be sure to have extra ink cartidges on hand as it does use up a lot of ink but this process works the best every time when the printer wont print.

I have kodak printer 5210. when i print a picture on 4x6 card. it looks good. but when i try 8x10.5 it doesn't look good. It looks little blurry.

The problem is probably the pixel size of the picture. Pictures with 5 or 6 megapixels look fine on 4 x 6 but they get blurry when enlarged. You need a minimum of 10 megapixels for an 8 x 10 print. Cameras that are able to take 10 megapixel or higher photos normally don't do this by default. They are set to save more photos on the memory card of the camera and so save the photographs as lower quality snaps. These are fine for looking at on a computer but if you want to print at 8 x 10 you need to set your camera to take the highest quality photo.

Cannon MP600 will not print accurate photo colours

First clean and align the printer correctly.

You will need to ensure that you have selected Photo Glossy Paper for best results. You will also need to adjust the gamma settings and also play with the colour saturation controls to achieve a good colour balance that you are happy with.

Try printing a basic colour additive chart and comparing screen against printout and adjusting settings as required.

Epson R265 printing colours incorrectly

For the black and white issue, check the settings and make sure that it isn't set on "sepia". As for the color issue, it is quite possible that you are out of ink. Printers may use more of one color than another depending on what you're printing. Change your color cartridge.

My c65 prints photo all dimmer

Set up a picture with basic squares of colour using a graphics program such as Powerpoint. Print this picture. Does the printed picture look like the picture on the screen. If not, uninstall the printer, reboot, and re-install it. Try again - still no good? You need to get a technician to look at your printer.

If this basic colour check works OK, take a photograph of the printed picture and load it into the computer. Compare it with the original on the screen. The same? No - it's a camera problem - Yes? - OK now print the camera version. Any sign of this dimming? Yes - it's a printer problem - get a technician, as before. No? - I'm baffled why you think you have a problem?

Old Polaroid photos

Having photographic quality copy prints made will give you far longer life than the original Polaroid. Polaroid colour dyes will shift colours and eventually fade dramatically. New photographic (and some ink jet) prints will last generations without noticeable fading.
