My gas furnace and heat pump runs at the same time???

its likely the outside control unit board its supposed to only kick on gas only when the temp is at freezing..
or
the inside thermostat is not selected for heat pump, open it an look at the jumper / switch.
or just replace the thermostat , then return it saying you couldnt figure it out. :P
there are a lot more variables here after that you cant know how to check.

If aquastat wirings are ok, and control module had been set up properly, the the furnace should start.
Check if bypassing the control the furnace starts, if it starts then check aquastat wirings.
If it depends on the furnace, check the valve, the safety sensor and the ignitor.
Here is the guide to set up the Aquastat control:

Honeywell 5000, 8000, 8000 iaq, prestige, round dial analog, digital Honeywell redlink. 1 heat 1 cool thermostat 3 heat 2 cool thermostat. does the stat u have do conventional a/c and heat pump. red wire is hot wire 24 volts not heating its your 24 volt control power. this will be r on your board and t-stat and red wire. y is for cooling mode and is yellow and will be noted y on both board and t stat. green is fan on the indoor furnace and will be g on board and t-stat and the wire is green. blue is the common side of the transformer labeled b on both board and t-stat. I did not see brown on your schematic I looked up I seen orange which is your reversing valve wire for the heat pump whether its calling for cooling or heat this is what changes the flow of Freon to make it to the indoor coil as warm Freon or cold when called for in heat or cool. the thermostat if a vision pro 8000 needs to be programmed in the installer mode which if this is the t-stat u have u need to read through the heat pump section. the green hooked to the orange doesn't look right on the print but that's the breakdown. http://www.manualslib.com/manual/277678/Haier-Hb2400vd2m20.html?page=11#manual heres your schematic

Carrier OEM to Honeywell Programmable Tstat - NEED HELP

you likely have a "two stage" system, but not a two stage heat pump. the first stage is probably the heat pump itself, and the second stage is the auxilliary resistance heat that suppliments the heat pump at lower temps. if i knew the terminals that are available on the new stat, i could advise you on the proper wiring.

Your t-stat should be set up so that the furnace is the second stage heat and also emergency heat. First stage (heat Pump comes on) sometimes they use Time to start 2nd stage, sometimes they use outdoor temp and this all bepends how bryant has set it up, without a model # I cannot tell you but send it and i will look in somebooks i have to tell you.

I installed a new Honeywell Programable thermostat, When I turned on the AC it turned on the Heater... I followed the wiring but some of it is not making sense... G=Green, Y=Yellow, R=Red, C=Blue,...

Hi, the problem is you have bought the wrong thermostat for the unit if it is not a heat-pump. A heat pump will have W-1, W-2 for heat strips, and Y-2 is for 2nd stage cooling. G is Green for Fan, R is Red for Power, Y is Yellow for cooling, and W would be for Heat. This is all you need if you have gas heat, Orange is for a reversing valve for a heat-pump, and the blue is also for the reversing valve on a Rheem heat-pump. The stat you need will have these terminals, if you are sure its not a heat pump, which I am sure you would know. The stat you need has these terminals. RC and RH. It will have a Red jumper wire connecting the 2 terminals. This is where the Red wire connects, to either one, as they connect together. Connect G to Green, Y to Yellow, and W to white. Since you only have one control transformer, that's why the stat has RH for Red Heating, and RC for Red cooling tied together. Just hook the red coming in to either one. You need only, R, G, Y, and W, to run this unit. Look at your old stat and check the terminals. A heat-pump, uses many more conductors to operate it. O or orange for the reversing valve, blue also depending on the unit. C for common, W1 for stage one heating, W2 for stage 2 heating, Y1 for stage one cooling and Y2 for stage 2 cooling. This stat is used for a commercial unit with multible stages of heat and cooling. If you have a common wire and no batteries on the old stat, go to the indoor unit, remove the panel, and see if you have a common wire hooked up, such as the brown, black, or maybe blue. If so, you will need to hook it up at the stat if it has a C terminal. If it has batteries, just take all of the extra wires and shove them in the wall. You won't need them. Just the R, G, Y, and W, and you will be back on line. Very easy.
Please rate me. Take it back and have them sell you the right stat. Please keep me posted and I will be here if you need my help. Thank you for using Fixya.

Stage 2 is okay as long as there is a fossil-fuel kit accessory wired in the field control wiring. EM heat would only allow gas furnace operation if the thermostat is set for EMER HT mode.......this is not ideal and not recommended. Dual-Fuel applications require a fossil fuel kit.
I'm including a link with information on one type of fossil fuel kit. It explains how it works. If you have limited HVAC service knowledge and/or experience, I recommend having an experienced service technician check your system operation in all modes to ensure proper operation for longer system life at peak operating efficiency.

What is the difference between stage two and aux heat?

The furnace shoud be wired to W1 amd EM Heat. If your heater is a two stage furnace then hook the thermostat W1 to stage 1 amd W2 to stage 2. Most new 2 stage heaters will control stage 2 with the control board.

Manual Thermostat replcaement with Programmable Digital unit.

Hopefully there are markings on the old t-stat as to what terminal is what.
on the honeywell 8000 use the heat pump labeling and then the standard wiring would be
R- red
AUX-white
Y- yellow
B- O/B
C- black
G- green
There should not be a bare wire, it probably just has the insulation stripped back way too far.
You should probably open the furnace and compare the terminal label in the furnace to the wire color. normally yellow and blue pass through the furnace and are wire nutted to wires going to the outdoor unit. In the furnace the white wire will connect to the w or w1 terminal. also, you will need to set the Honeywell stat to have the following parameters.
170-7
190-1
200-0
other parameters that I did not specify, you may read the manual and make your own decision but I recommend factory settings for the other parameters
