The router's admin page is http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 and the default password should be either "admin" or "password" without quotes. There should be a choice under "Setup" called "Factory Reset". That will erase the settings and reset it like new.

Alternatively, you can follow the procedure as given below on all the brands I've tried (Belkin, D-Link, Linksys)

1. hold the reset button for 30 seconds (don't release)
2. unplug the power (still holding reset) for 10 seconds
3. plug power back in (still holding reset)
4. hold reset for another 30 seconds - the lights will usually begin flashing in some odd pattern
5. release the reset button
6. wait 1 full minute or until the lights stop flashing
7. unplug the power for 10 seconds, just to do a reboot
8. verify the settings (e.g. SSID) are back to the defaults

Just curious as to why you marked this as "thanks for trying" when I explained how to reset any linksys router back to factory defaults.

To access the routers programming make sure an ethernet cable goes directly to the router and your PC.

Open an Internet Explorer window and type this for the address

    192.168.1.1

The user name and pass are both admin

You can reset factory default in the routers programming as well.

At the least please mark this as "Helpful" because I have given you exactly what you asked for. If your having another problem with the router please tell me what it is here and we will resolve it.

How to reset netgear wgr614 to factory default

You can reset your Netgear router to the factory settings from within the router manager. The reset procedure removes all user-configured settings and returns the router to the original factory settings. For this reason, only reset the router if you encounter problems that can't be solved with other methods.

Step 1: Check that your Netgear router is properly connected with your system or not. If it is OK, then press reset button on Netgear router for at least 10 seconds. The 'test' light should flash during this process.

Step 2: Now open browser and enter Netgear's IP address into the address bar. Generally, '192.168.0.1' is the Netgear router IP address but you can find specific IP address in Netgear router manual.

Step 3: Now enter your default username and password to log in to router.

Step 4: Click 'Erase' button under the 'Revert to Factory Default Settings'. This process will erase all your previous changes that have been made to the router and restore the configuration settings to factory setting. Don't interrupt the process until the process is finished.

Once the router's 'test' light has stopped blinking and the configuration page you are on has refreshed, the router has been reset.

Need password to my netgear router n 300

what is the model #?
Most netgear routers default to a username of "admin" and password is either " admin ", "password" or it is just blank. Those are the defaults unless someone changed it.
If you cant get in you can hold down the reset button on the back for 30 seconds (while it is plugged into power) and that will set it back to factory default settings then one of the above should work.
If this was a help please give me 4 thumbs up as I am trying to build up my rep on this site!

Forgot my password and can't log on with another pc

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings. if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings Hope this helps don't forget to vote

A few months ago someone was getting into my router & downloading movies, I assume. Had a tech help me put in a password to secure it. Forgot the password & now can't use my ipod touch at home. Any...

Yes there is.. BUT you'll have to set up the security again... Fortunately DLink has a handy setup wizard which you can access here.. http://support.dlink.com/emulators/di514_revc/h_wizard.html
This will work right on your browser. You might want to test that it works on your system before wiping the router. (Just start it up then cancel if it starts)

Find the recessed reset button on back of the router close to the power input. Press and hold it with paper clip or pen tip for 10 - 15 seconds. This will restore it to factory settings.

You should use a wired connection to access the internet after that, no password. Go to the link above and use the online wizard to setup the router with encrytion and new password.

If it all orks wout for you kindly give me a rating. Thanks.

I forgot my passwoed

If you lost your password/forgot what you set it to, you will have to factory/hard reset your router back to factory default settings and set everything back up again. Just make sure you keep your password somewhere safe so you don't lose it again.

To hard reset (Factory Reset) your router (The best method), use the following steps:

The following procedure will clear out the NVRAM and set your router back to default values:
  1. With the router powered on, press and hold the reset button on back of unit for 30 seconds
  2. Without releasing the reset button, unplug the unit and hold reset for another 30 seconds
  3. Plug the unit back in STILL holding the reset button a final 30 seconds.
This procedure should be done BEFORE and AFTER every firmware upgrade/downgrade.
Do not use configuration restore if you change firmware builds (different svn build numbers).

The default login for your router's control panel/settings manager is as follows:

Username: Not required /Admin/Administrator (Try all three. One should definitely work)
Password: admin (Case Sensitive)

Also the default access IP of WRT54G is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.15.1 (Depending on version) so after you hard reset the router and get it booted back up, you should be able to access the router via:

http://192.168.1.1
http://192.168.15.1

I hope this helps. I know it's probably not the answer you wanted, but unfortunatly you won't be able to retrieve or change your password without having the password or hard resetting your router back to factory defaults and set it back up (Sometimes good to do anyway every once in a while).

Also, just as an extra tip/hint, I'm going to lead you in the direction to turn that $60 router into a $600 router (Theoretically speaking) just by using a custom firmware called DD-WRT which unlocks TONS of options and is faster and much more stable than the factory firmware.

You can find DD-WRT here:

http://www.dd-wrt.com

Enjoy!

Best Regards,

James

There should be a reset button on the back of the router. Once you locate it press it in and hold it down for a few minutes to reset the router to factory default. Then try logging into it.
