The Security software that you have - most likely Norton - is very badly configured and thinks that your browser has been hijacked and blocks the entire internet connection.
You should replace both the browser and your security software.
I recommend Opera for browser and Avast for security. Both are free and the best in their category.

My hotmail account won't let me sign in with my password. they keep saying i need a security code and I have tried several times and can't get one. I have important emails to get into on my account

This is a security check feature and usually they want an email address to send the security code to and a couple of security questions in case you forget your password and want to retrieve it. If you do not have a second email address then set one up on www.gmail.com or www.mail.com and send the security code to the gmail or mail account. It is a good idea to have a backup email account in case the first email account is attacked by a denial of service virus and you can then tell a sender to try your second backup email address.

Hotmail.com

Yes all mails services need an account name and a password. Just to verify you are the legal owner. That is why they did setup the security system in the first place. You think the system would be secure if anyone could give you a way to get in without your password?
On the login screen always is a button called I forgot my password (or something like that) if you press that button, they all send you an e-mail, to one of your other accounts, you have to give to hotmail, when you did setup the account. Acknowledging you received that mail, they will tell you how you can make a new password for your account. If you don't receive a mail, the person who has the account, will be informed someone was asking to reset the password.

My husband and I both have MSN-hotmail accounts with our own e-mail addresses. How can we sign in without having to enter our e-mail addresses and password each time.?

  1. Clear your web browser cache.
  2. Make sure cookies are enabled and clear your cookies.
  3. Update your Adobe Flash player.
  4. Force a page refresh. After logging in and landing on the blank page, hold down the control key on your keyboard and while holding it down press the F5 key on your keyboard.
  5. Internet Explorer Users: Restore the default web browser security levels.
  6. If you use Internet Explorer try using Mozilla Firefox instead. Download and install the latest Firefox and then use Firefox to go to Hotmail.com
  7. Check your Anti-Virus software and make sure it is up to date. If you do not have an anti-virus program I recommend installing Avast personal edition.
  8. Update and run your anti-spyware program. If you do not have a program that checks your computer for spyware I recommend installing, updating, and running a full scan of your computer with StopZilla or Spybot S&D.
  9. Do you have other security/firewall software installed such as Zone Alarm or Defender Pro. Try downloading and installing the latest version. If you have already have the current version try reinstalling it.
  10. Reset your web browser privacy and security settings to the defaults.
  11. If you use Internet Explorer, download and reinstall the latest version of Internet Explorer. After upgrading / reinstalling Internet Explorer, try going to Hotmail.com and see if you can login.
  12. Instead of using your ISP's DNS servers use the OpenDNS servers.
  13. Instead of using the webmail interface try reading your Hotmail with Windows Live Mail
  14. Sometimes Hotmail is the problem, try waiting an hour and try to login again by going to Hotmail.com.
  15. You probably tried already, but if not, try rebooting your computer. ahsjfjhc1jvdtiwnfhjizqryghqooatggibtttrlynvl0z4coqlogucnqgadufxbewgodamibgzfwspmu4csj+wm1pkj1okiiujp6weesb+bggkhqhurj5u6caosgtvmjgxzfdhtogipxgajagbgmztpc5knaxkcmaiq1b1pgsotwcgqzyiaghx4afcnfzqfdf5ikwckggenqxaxkdgi1ybcpwrmccdcac0tadrsugrdyacyfij0qsdaaiieiqbeypweh5jxtyszaqbmxyadd8kqaoqcti8cxfz5cgrbdyruzd6auifniihow1qquccbfxjmlm7qftgiionzheyuagwiads=

I can not recive or send emails. There is a block on my hotmail account for my emails.I would be grateful if this can be solved as i use this service to get jobs.thankyou

If you don't use your hotmail address for more than three months your account will be deactivated automatically in such a case you log through your MSN or windows live messenger with this same address and reactivate your hotmail if not possible you may contact msn authority to reactivate your account, they will do it if its not deleted account for some reason.

Are you using to access your mail via a network where there is firewall or proxy blocked for accessing hotmails and other mails.

If you got a stand alone machine and internet access please check your security setting and change it to low or medium and check its working

E-mail with attachments freezing

Goto windows update, and make sure you have the latest version of Microsoft .net framework.. (also any other service packs for ie7 that you don't have, along with security updates)

Most of those sites use the .net platform, and that may cause issues if it is not up to date.

Other then that, you might try to re-install IE7, or, revert back to Ie6
