Question about Photography

I have a Solidex video tripod that is missing the shoe that the camera itself attached to- in order to set on the tripod. I know the company is out of business, but is there another one that is compatible with this tripod that I can use.

Most of them are compatable as the fittings are universal.
So try to check up at Studios if there are any tripods with the telescopic damage from which the shoe pad can be salvaged.
The other way is to get this fabricated easily from a good tooling shop with a sample that can be taken from a friend for confirming the dimensions.

I found this tripod, new, on Ebay. It looks like it would serve your purpose. I'll keep checking for you, but take a look at it- it was posted on the 22nd of May, so you have plenty of time to check it out and buy it, if you choose. Good luck, hope this helped!

I have a Solidex tripod and I can't find the model number. It's missing the shoe and the piece to secure the shoe in the head. I can find a replacement shoe but I don't know how to find a replacement for...

As far as I know Solidex is out of business and since most of there parts are not standard to the other major manufacturers you should either buy a new tripod or search for the same (exact same) model on ebay or craigs list to find the same model and use it for parts.

Missing camera attaching plate

Trying going to the Kodak website, perhaps the store/shop, to see if you can order a replacement "shoe". The attaching plate or "shoe" is specific to your tripod so you will most likely need an exact replacement.

Are you referring to a camera quick release? You could purchase a quick release mount to go on this tripod made by someone else. The only thing about that is you would have to buy that companies release plates that go on your cameras etc.
Hope this helps.

If you have not found the part for your tripod you are looking for, I have the whole assembly complete, still in the original box.$50 and it's yours.

Solidex camcorder tripods

OKAY!! Thanks to the reply of "Baldwink", I was able to locate the product he suggested here in the U.S. from several dealers. This is the plate that mounts to the camera and allows easy removal/attachment to the tripod.

For the Solidex VT-90 tripod (the one I have and may fit others), order the Cullman CU-40470 Quick Release Plate. This is also described as the "Cullman Medium Quick Release 42mm" plate.

If you don't have the VT-90, measure the shoe plate area on top and remember that there will be at least one beveled (angled) area. Mine measured exactly 42mm square, so I am confident that the Cullman plate will fit. Also, the standard thread size for camera mounting is 1/4", but there are some cameras that use 3/8", so you might want to double check your camera for this spec.

I googled "cullman 40470 quick release" and found several U.S. dealers. The best price was from Adorama.com at $14 plus $5 ground shipping. Some dealers want as much as $33.

After nearly 20 years, I can use my Solidex VT-90 again!
