Question about Dyson Vacuums

1 Answer

I have the Dyson DC 14 and have had it for almost two years. Now it leaves clumps of matted hair from my dog on the tiled floors. There must e a problem but I don't see anything wrong.

Hi,

There could be various reasons why this could happen.
I will tell you the reason's that could cause this problem and it solution. Please try it,If still the problem persist, you could call the customer care.

1) Internal hose has twisted small corrugated tube
Twist this a quarter turn clockwise and then try the machine again. You may find that this hose twisted pulling the cleaner head up very slightly preventing it from contacting with your surfaces correctly.

2)Roller brush-Roller brush not working or not rotating at proper speed.Your roller brush must have been worn out or damaged or clogged with dust clean or replace it accordingly

3)Bottom plate (sole plate) is installed wrong. If there is gap then the sucking will not take place properly.

4) cyclone component, needs to be cleaned properly.Run lukewarm water over the entire grid of small filtering holes.
5)Inspection ports at the back (U) shaped create blockages.

Note:Blockages mainly cause this problem.

Thank you for using fixya.

My vacuum engineer friend loves Dysons ~ he says that they keep him in business!!
The only machine that I have found any use on animal hairs is the Miele Cat'n'Dog model.
The turbo brush is excellent.
Dogs shed most of the time so that means to keep onto of the hairs you need to vacuum most of the time (once a day!).

Pricey but mine is brilliant.
Dyson's are cheaper and now you know why!

What's the best vacuum for pet hair?

Try a bagless vacuum cleaner as hair blocks up bags very quickly. One that is around 2000 watts should have enough power to do the job. As for the price check appliance stores for sales and deals.

The filter keeps getting acouple of inches of dog hair on it.I clean it once or twice a week but its still clumped on it.thanks

With heavy concentrations of dog hair, the machine needs to be cleaned after each use. This seems tedious, but will greatly extend the life of the machine and make it work better in the meantime. I have often considered finding a nice bald dog myself:)

Makes a ratchetting noise due to hair caught in brush; cleaned the brush and replaced the brush cover but still makes noise. what is the problem?

You have to take it to a vacuum shop and have a new clutch put in. The DC-7 and DC-14 have a clutch that needs replacing usually every year to year and a half.

Dyson making loud noise

If your brushroller isn't spinning it will make the loud sound. Try removing the brushroll and reinstalling it. If this doesn't work, you may need a new brushroller. You can find one here...

Need to know which attachment is for sweeping tile floors. Dog hair is getting out of control.

There is a large attachment with a swiveling elbow and wheels on it. That is the one for tile floors.
