Hi, Double vision/ picture problem occurs due to failure of convergence output ICs in rear projection tv and it is common problem of projection tvs. Please replace convergence output ICs in tv to solve the issue, there is convergence repair kit available for $70 on This Site that has required parts/ ICs, instructions about how to replace ICs etc for a handy person. Hope these info will help. Thanks.
Tv have 100% convergence problems,it dead. The tv have colors lines R,G,B mis alignments, have colors pictures shadows or 3D pictures look alike? The tv convergence board have dead 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too. These parts on the tv convergence, must be replaced to solved the tv pictures convergence problems. The shop, will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.
I charge 285.00 at my shop ,so if you cannot fix it your self you are looking at repair anywhere from that price or more .You have 2 STK ics these are your convergence Chips .You would need to replace both of them.If you can solder you have it made.
There are several circuits in the tv that will cause this. the most common on your model is a bad convergence circuit. a repair cost will range around 400.00 or so. it is a good model and worth a repair.
Im not 100% familiar with your model toshiba but they are all similar so try this.
(1) RESOLDER MEMORY ICS ON THE TEXT BOARD, A COUPLE OF THE LEGS LIFT OFF THE BOARD.
(2) RESOLDER ALL PINS OF THE OUTPUT IC'S, EVEN THOUGH THE DON'T LOOK DRY: Q750,Q751 AND Q753. RESET CONVERGENCE IN SERVICE MODE.
CHECK RESISTORS, CPS, & REPLACE ANY BULGING CAPACITORS NEAR THE CONVERGENCE ICS.
As I said im not to familiar with your model it may or may not have the exact components I have listed in parts (1)&(2)
But its worth checking just in case it does.
There are 2 large IC's in your set and one of them has burned out. These are called convergence output IC's and are usually the STK392-010's. A good idea would be to go ahead and replace both with the newer, upgraded STK392-150 IC's. A good tech can change those IC's in about an hour and a half, and when I do a housecall for a set like that I charge $150, but shops in your area will vary so be sure to ask around.
