Question about Intel ASUS X Series Motherboard P4P800-MX REV: 1.04 (ASUSP4P800MXUAYZREV104)

1 Answer

Im having an issue installing new RAM. The RAM it came with was a DDR400 PC3200 512MB while i recently purchased 2 1GB PC2700 DDR333. If i put in the 2 GB, the system wont boot. But if i put the 512MB in, it will boot right up.. even with the 2gb in with it. I then go to MY Computer and it only shows the 512 mb of RAM. Help?

According to the manufacturer, if the rails are of the same type and speed, you should install them in the blue slots to work correctly.

What is the bus speed you are using?
    What processor?
If your front side bus is set at 400, the 333s will not work.
the FSB has to be running at 533 or 800mhz to use the PC2700 DDR333.
There is a way around this difficulty:
    Go into the BIOS
    Under the advanced tab
    Check the DRAM frequency.
It should be set to auto.
You can manually set it to 333 if it is on the auto setting.
That is about all of the info I could get on that board.

Look for labels on the RAM: PC100 or PC133 or DDR266 or DDR333 or DDR400 or PC2100 or PC2700 or PC3200.

Since you cited 'DDR400', you need to purchase 'DDR400' RAM.
Any sales-person in any computer-store can sell you 'DDR400' RAM.

Just installed 2 2GB cards (Corsair VS2GB800D2) to replace the 1 1GB card in my emachines EL1200 series. Computer will not boot. replaced the old card and it booted right up.

Will it boot with only ONE of the 2GB memory-sticks installed?
Will it boot with ONE of the 2GB memory-sticks AND one of the 1GB memory-sticks?

Look closely at the 1GB memory-sticks.
Does the label show 'DDR266' or 'DDR333' or 'DDR400' or 'PC2100' or 'PC2700' or 'PC3200' ?
Do the 2GB memory-sticks have _identical_ information?
It's definitely _not_ acceptable to have "slower" RAM (smaller numbers) in the new RAM,
but it _might_ be acceptable to have "faster" RAM (larger numbers).

I PLUG IN 2 NEW 512 MEM PCBS & WLL NOT BOOT. 1 BEEP FOLLOWED BY 3 BEEPS FOLLOWED BY 3 BEEPS FOLLOWED BY 1 BEEP. THEN NOTHING.

Remove the "new" RAM.
Look at the labels for PC2100 or PC2700 or PC3200,
or for DDR266 or DDR333 or DDR400.
Compare with the label on one of the "old" sticks of RAM.

Be sure that the labels on the "new" RAM are "equal" or "higher" than the labels on the "old" RAM.
For example, if the "old" RAM are DDR333, then you can use DDR400, but your computer will not accept DDR266.

Reinsert one of the sticks of the "old" RAM.
Does it still beep multiple times?
If not, then the new RAM is *NOT* compatible with your computer.

Why does the computer not see the 1 gb memory

Assuming "memory cards" refers to RAM:
First, make sure you have the right type of memory; the Gateway 510x uses either (DDR333 PC2700, 184p DIMM) or (400MHz DDR400 PC3200, 184p DIMM) 1 gb memory sticks. If the RAM type is correct check that it is properly installed. Firmly press the sticks into the slot until the plastic clips on the side snap into place.

Memory for computer

Hi, that machine will take DDR266, DDR333, or DDR400 RAM according to the Tech Specs. All the RAM in this class uses the same form factor, so they're interchangable on motherboards, but the higher speeds run faster. You can find the specs here:

MS 7142 TO INCREASE RAM

hiya

its a case of purchasing the new ram modules taking the old ram out and popping the new ram in

i wud recommend using OCZ, GEIL or Crucial memory modules as these are the best makes

the spped of the ram varies from system to system depending on the system bus speed
the most common speeds for this board is pc2100, pc2700 and pc3200
these speeds are as follows pc2100 - ddr200
pc2700 - ddr333 and pc3200 - ddr400

hope this helps

How much ram can i install on a hp compaq d220mt?

Laptop Computer Memory Desktop Computer Memory Printer Memory Memory Applications All data processing and execution takes place within the memory module(s). The program's directions are replicated into memory from a hard drive, external drive or from a network. The processor then extracts the directions from the memory and puts it into the circuit for analysis and execution.
Memory is so important that it cannot be wasted. RAM is allocated by the operating system and programs, and then released when not needed. Errant applications can grip RAM and not release it, which results in a diminishing amount of memory available as you load and use more programs.
If you could actually look into memory, you would be astonished. By watching how much and how quick data and commands are written in and out of it each day, you would realize it is a marvel that it works so we
