How do I set a Compaq Presario SR1403WM back to Factory settings

Step 1:
While many problems with Compaq Presario computers can be solved by less drastic means, there are times when the best course of action is to set the computer back to its original factory default state. Issues with persistent viruses or spyware often require this drastic step, as do problems with a corrupt operating system. Learning how to restore your computer to its original state is an important troubleshooting tool.

Shut down your computer and restart it. Watch for the Compaq logo, then press the "F1" key to enter setup. Press the right arrow within setup to go to the Boot menu. Press the down arrow to access the "Boot Device Priority" option. Change the first boot device to CD-ROM by pressing the down arrow until "CD-ROM" is displayed. Eject the CD tray and place the recovery CD that came with your computer into the tray. If you do not have a recovery CD, you can order one directly from Hewlett Packard. Shut down and restart the computer. The Presario will automatically boot from the CD and begin the recovery process. Select the operating system your computer shipped with. Many Compaq recovery CDs support multiple operating systems, so be sure to choose the operating system your computer shipped with. Insert the operating system CD when prompted. Enter the license key for the operating system when prompted. The license key is typically found on a small tag located on the top or side of the computer.

Motherboard not display anything ,not bios, not windows, nothing!! I cant press any function to entrance at setup

1) Computer off, unplug it from power.
Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of 10 seconds.
Let go of the Power On button. Do this same procedure two more times.

This procedure clears CMOS Error Codes, and resets BIOS Setup, back to the factory default settings.

Plug the computer back into power, and monitor into motherboard.
(VGA connector,

WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

No?

2) Computer off unplug it from power. Open the computer case.
FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions.

Anti-Static Precautions:
Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out
(Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components inside a computer.

TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case. This action will relieve your body of Static.

SHOULD you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return.

Now remove the CMOS battery,

Now press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of 10 seconds. Let go. Do this same procedure two more times.

Reinstall the CMOS battery. Plug the computer back into power.
Monitor to motherboard. WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

Memory added to two computers

Usually this means that the memory is not compatible with the computer you installed it on. Try taking the memory you installed out and put the old memory back in there. Then turn on the computer just to verify that it will load. After it loads successfully (hopefully), Shut down the computer and add one stick of memory to the computer. Turn it on, if it doesn't load then the memory is not compatible and if you have more memory then just keep following the steps above till you've tested all of the memory sticks.

RAM installation

Hi hunter555,

First off, you've done a lot of work for nothing. What you need to do is put back the new memory. When the Dell Bios boots, it confirming that it has detected the new memory. What you need to do is hit the F1 key to reboot and continue on to the XP installation. When you open the case, it will say the same thing. Don't worry about it, it's only confirming that the case was opened. Typically, I shut off the case intrusion detection, only because I'm always adding things to the machines and it's just a extra step I have to take to boot. However, it's good to know that your bios is confirming that you've opened the case, and that you've put in new memory. You want to make sure that the setup recongizes the entire memory in the banks. So, go to the system information page and make sure that it's reading the original and the additional memory 256k you added. Otherwise your done.

Good Luck

My monitor will not work.

First of all, and I know this sounds ridiculous but I've even done it, make sure you connected the monitor cable to the new video card and not to the old 'on-board' video connection.
Next, do you get a (BIOS) start-up screen? If you don't, you most likely have a bad or incompatible video card. If you do, you need to boot into the 'BIOS' setup by holding down which ever 'F' key your particular computer calls for, (I don't know the make of your computer), and look for video or display options and choose the appropriate setting (PCI or PCI-Express), 'Onboard' is the factory default and will only work with the monitor cable plugged in the 'original' connector.
If you still can't get it to work you may have to put the connector back on the original, then go into 'Device Manager' (right click My Computer - then choose 'Properties', then 'Hardware' tab, then Device Manager), go down and open 'Display adapters', choose update driver on the new card's entry and then 'disable' the original device. turn off PC, reconnect the monitor to the new card and reboot. Good Luck!

G'day,Mate !!...My own personal experience with 'Samsung PC Studio' is...it is ,to put it mildly, obsolete, unless they have updated it.Also,I believe you are referring to a phone that was brand new in 2006.You could TRY using Samsung Kies, but, again,in my experience, that is a colossal waste of time ,also.Have you tried plugging phone in while computer is shut down, then powering computer back up ??
