Kenmore HE3 Won't Drain

I've tried all of the suggestions regarding the F02 code. The filter had minimal crud, the impellers are intact. Ran the machine.F02 code. Da*n!
I ran the diagnostics and the pump sounded as if it was running. So this time I removed the pump for a better inspection. Impellers were fine but did not seem to rotate freely. Is this normal or is there a problem with the pump motor? By the way, graet site. Very helpful.

Thanks, Phil

Thanks for the reply Mike. As I had stated in my 1st post "I've tried all of the suggestions regarding the F02 code. The filter had minimal crud, the impellers are intact. Ran the machine.F02 code. Da*n!

After this I tried running a cycle without detergent. Same F02. After unplugging the machine and letting it reset itself I plug the machine back in set it for "drain and spin" and it does just that, drains and spins without incident. So if my impellers are intact and it drains sometimes is it the motor/pump or is it some type of sensor? I checked the drain line before the pump and it seems clear. How do you check the exit line? How much is the pump/motor if I do end up needing one? And could you tell me if the impeller is supposed to turn freely? Mine turns freely and then it seems to kinda catch on something or as if it cams over.

    Thanks, Phil

    Hi Mike,

I have a Kenmore HE3 model#11044832200. If you have the pump in stock how much is it and how long would it take to get to me? And are they original parts, aftermarket, or refurbished?

    Thanks, Phil

Our HE washer is stopping during a washing cycle. It is beeping and flashing with a F-11. I am not sure if 11 is the time it stopped or if it is a code. The clothes are wet, the door is locked.

Second problem is that the washing detergent drains down ito the clothes immediately. I thought it should dispense slowly but I am not sure. Please help. The machine is only 3 years old.

The fault code F02 has about three suggested solutions with the last one being to change the pump. The diagnostic tree is slightly flawed. Before anyone changes the pump there is one more very common problem. The pressure sensor which tells the drain pump when to stop running and the water valves when to shut off has a manifold located on the lowest point in the back of the drum housing (back has to be removed to access). The manifold plugs up with undisolved detergent and lint and prevents the pressure sensor from receiving the proper signal. The pump will continue to run until it times out (at 15 minutes) and results in an F02 code.

I have found the problem with the pump ,only took replacing the motor twice to figure this one out ....the eletrical part of the motor is a sealed unit with the field coils on the out side of the sealed motor the bushing/seal on the front of the motor wear out and lets the motor fill with water.after removing motor if you tap the back of the hosing you can watch the water come out.........i,m working on motor number 4 .........they last about a year and a half.......GOOD LUCK GETTING SEARS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM by the time they do somthing for you the cloths that you were washing are out of style BOB 269-217-1150

Hello Phil,
You have one of the most common problems with the HE3.
To correct the problem I usually clean out the pump filter and run through a rinse cycle with no soap or cloths in the machine. This will allow the suds to flush out of the washer. Suds can cause the washer to think it has water in it when it is actually all gone. If you clean the filter, rinse the suds out and still get the f-2 Check the drain for possible obstructions. If the drain is clear and you have tried all the other possibles then you will need a new pump. I have them if you need them just give me a call and I can get you shipped to your door. Good luck to you and I hope this helped. Thanks Mike (865)945-3808

    Hey phil,

The pump will turn freely and then have a point where it will be hard to turn then free and hard to turn again. If you give me your model number I will look up the motor for you. I am at home now and do not have the numbers in front of me. I do have about 10 of those pumps on hand so let me know if you end up needing one.

The machine only allows so much time to pump all the water out. If the water is not or if it thinks all the water is not out you get the code. Suds can cause the problem or water. If it is suds it should have cleared up by now. So we have to go with water or it thinks its water. So, if water is staying in the machine the pump can be obstructed the drain lines can be blocked or your drain in the wall can be slow draining. I would recommend you remove your drain hose and run water through it in the tub or sink. If Your drain in the wall , the hose and pump are clear then you would have to think you have a bad pump.

send me the model and I will give you a price for the pump.

Hope I got the FixYa this time. Later

I have a kenmore elite HE3 washer. I was getting the sud error and then eventually F02. I cleaned out all the drain lines and pump filter trap and this did not help. I've now replaced the pump

I endevor to purchase a new unit. I've had the same electrical issue with the "F" variable coming up for EACH cycle. I've pressed the Pause/Cancel button and attempted to resume the cycle. While that did work, again, the "F" would come up and the cycle disrupted. I think I will end up paying quite a bit to have it serviced. My washer is 7 years old and I've had it serviced twice to date. I intend on purchasing new in the New Year, a Samsung or LG.

Kenmore Elite HE3 - Washer stopped - door locked - did not drain and spin - Getting error message F02

  1. Unplug the washer.
  2. Remove the 3 Torx head screws (located left, center, and right) from the front bottom kick panel of the washer.
  3. The drain/filter/pump is right in front.
  4. You can see a diagram of the pump at http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Drain-Pump/1200164.
  5. First remove as much water from the washer as you can. Place a large towel under the pump - a lot of water will come out when you remove the filter cover cap.
  6. Remove the drain filter cover cap by turning the filter cover cap counterclockwise.
  7. Remove the filter and check the housing and pump impeller vanes for debris (see if you can move the pumps impeller by hand).
  8. Clean the cover cap gasket and the gaskets mating surface.
  9. Replace the filter and close the cover cap firmly.
  10. Run a short wash cycle and check for any leaks at the filter cover cap. If the error comes back, you may need to replace your drain pump.
  11. Replace the kick panel if none are found.

I have a Kenmore Elite HE3 model 44832 200 washer. Will spin sometimes, but doesn't seem to get to full speed. Often won't spin at all and gets F02 error, but it does roll during wash/rinse cycles. ...

he F02 message is a long drain error and it may mean the pump is clogged or bad. You don't provide a lot of detail about if the water is draining out or not but the first thing to check for this error is the drain pump.

The image below shows how to access the pump and remove the filter. This may be your only problem. With the access panel removed you can also make sure the pump is running. Remember to unplug the washer before removing the access panel.

Check the pump for the F02 and make sure you're using HE detergent and there's not excessive suds.

I have an F2 code on a kenmore elite he3. I have removed the filter and cleaned it out (penny and bra underwire, hoses are clear but I still get a noisy drain and the alarm code. The impeller on the end of...

"F02" is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a "SUDS" error may also be generated as a secondary error. This is an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

1. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
2. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
3. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.

To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump

Kenmore Elite HE3 F02 error

If you checked the drain pump reservoir and the problem still persists, you may have a pump with a damaged motor/impeller, or something lodged in one of the drain lines. In particular, the drain line that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the pump.

I recommend you remove the inlet hose, first and inspect for clogs. In is common for small garments to become lodged in this area and restrict water flow to the drain pump. Check the output drain line for obstructions as well.

It does not take much to damage this small drain pumps. The error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes. So...if the impeller or motor become damaged, and the pump does not pull water at the correct volume, you may still experience the drain error. In this case, you will have to replace the pump in order to get the error to clear. The following link explains how:

Replacements can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartrsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. the first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

I have kenmore elite he3 and it is flashing f 02 and then it will flash sud. Water will not all drain out of it,

HI. this code represents a Long Drain issue.

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and F02 is flashed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

NOTE: After 4 minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F02 error code will be displayed.

Potential Causes

• Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked
• Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
• Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects
• If the above does not correct the problem replace the pump

Kenmore Elite - F02 trouble

Hi jbll,
The f02 code is always from a slow drain issue. This washer allows only 8 minutes for all the water to drain and if it is not gone in time you get the F02.
This is the proper check sequence for that problem.
Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects. You can remove this easily and replace it if needed.
If the above does not correct the problem, replace the pump.
I hope this has helped, Lots of luck . Mike Anderson

Probably something caught in pump. Remove lower panel if this one has it and you will see the pump. Loosen the round cover in middle to access clean-out.
