Question about Toshiba CZ36V51 36" TV

1 Answer

Hello! The picture on my toshiba cz36v51 is halved vertically, and has a duplicate picture on either side. Is that fixable? This problem occurs when trying to watch movies, cable, xbox...etc. Fixable or not? Thank you!

Sounds like you have a horizontal timing error causing the mirrored image. It is fixable but would require the main board to be replaced. The part number is 23783078 but appears to be no longer available.

Our Phillips flat screen TV picture is split down the middle vertically. One side shows a mirror image of the other side, and then sometimes one side is a lighter shade than the other, when it is full...

This may be due to a faulty Timing Control board (TCON board). I had a similar problem with my Samsung LCD TV picture being split vertically down the middle. The image on both halves appeared fuzzy and in reverse (mirror) including the menus. I replaced the TCON board and the problem was resolved.

Half screen

Hello xmen0614,

If the screen is halved in a horizontal fashion meaning that the screen only goes up half way this is an indication of a vertical deflection problem, quite possibly the vertical coupling capacitor or a problem with the vertical drive signal. If the TV is halved vertically meaning the either the left or right side of the TV is black while the other has picture, this could mean a problem with the damper diode, the Horizontal output Transistor, or the horizontal drive signal.

In either case I would suggest doing a ring test on the Yoke Transformer, The IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer).
Also check the Vertical coupling capacitor, and the horizontal drive transformer (Ring test this).

You noticed that I included the Vertical and Horizontal sections? This is because you did not mention which direction your screen was halved in.

If it is halved to to bottom check the vertical circuitry, If it is halved left to right check the horizontal circuitry. For either one do a ring test on the Yoke Transformer.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

I have a Toshiba cz36v51 that won't come on...

I do not have that make and model. However:

Some remotes have to have a code set that matches the brand of the tv. Your remote should have come with a list of brands and codes.

Alternatively, the instructions for your remote should tell you how to determine which code to use.

Toshiba CZ36V51 picture problem

sir, if you are not a technical person what i mean does not really repair like this equipmetns then it will not be easy for you to repair this. but ill give you an idea of what's wrong with your TV. Just cold solder or loosened solder on the vertical amplfier section. But if you can handle soldering and also dismantling the main board then you can just try to find the vertical amp section and look at those solders of parts around for loosened welds. just resolder it. be careful not to short any part or it cause major trouble and make your problem bigger. For a technical person, this trouble is a simple one.

Toshiba 36 inch TV (8 Years Old)

Hi,

If the shrinkage is just the top & bottom then it is relatively easy/low cost fix. Most probably, a capacitor in the vertical section is nearing end of its life. This would be the biggest of the bunch and would be something like 47uF/50V.

If however, the shrinkage is on all four sides, then it is the master power supply that is at fault. Chances are the main B+ is getting low which cold be caused by the big filter capacitor or an erratic regulator. This is not a simple fix and would require the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
