Question about Frigidaire GLEQ2152ES Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Was working on Frigidaire electric dryer GLEQ2152ES for a customer with a complaint of no heat, tested heater element and it tested good, only one of the wires going into the heater element was getting 110, the other wasn't getting anything, traced the wire back to the relay on the board and assumed it was that relay, replaced the board and still didn't get 110 going to the black wire, yellow wire still had the 110. Also replaced the safety thermastat and the heater element, still didn't change anything, the only thing I didn't change was the thermal limiter, how would I have tested the limiter, or known if this was the problem. I gave the customer their money back as I'm just trying to build my own repair business and I'm just out a bunch of time and money, 1st time this ever happened, they are buying a new one and I'll be haunted for life if I can't figure out what the problem was??? HELP PLEASE.............. Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark...
You test your thermal limiter with an ohm meter just like you used with the coil. It should show continuity.
Did you check the voltage at the receptacle to be sure you were getting 220v from the breaker?
Also check the electric cord going to the machine to make sure you do not have a broken wire in it. Check it where it connects to the back of the machine.

I hope this was your problem solver...good luck

Dryer heat not working

Without knowing your problem, I would guess that the heating element has burned out. This is a common issue with many dryers, regardless of brand.

The hearing element in a clothes dryer is like any other heating element, such as in a space heater, heat gun, or hair dryer. It is basically a continuous coil that is held in place by insulators, usually ceramic.

As the element ages, the coil becomes brittle and can often break. When a breakage occurs, the circuit is no longer complete and will not produce heat.

Replacing one is fairly simple.

  1. The first thing that you should do is unplug your dryer.
  2. Once unplugged, remove the exhaust duct.
  3. Use a screwdriver to remove the electric access panel in at the rear of the dryer.
  4. Locate and remove the heating element.
  5. Inspect the element for a break in the coil. The problem is not always obvious so it may be good to do a continuity test on it.
  6. Replace part if necessary. Elements will usually run $20 or so.
  7. Assemble in reverse order and test.

This website has some really great detailed step by step instructions on replacing a heater element.

Good luck.

Does not dry clothes, no hot air

This would be caused by a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. Both components can be tested for continuity using a multimeter. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty component. The thermal fuse is about one inch long. It's located just inside the rear of the dryer and is usually attached to the exhaust duct. Hope this helped and best wishes.
