Question about Sony Computers & Internet

3 Answers

I have sony companion 3 multimedia speakers and Sony VAIO VGC RA 810G desktop. I have difficulty in making the speakers work. I disconnected my computer before going on vacation and when I came back and connected, it is not working. I need to download the drivers, I think. Would you be able to assist me? I am not sure about the connections also. One black jack like( I Pod jack) needs to be inserted one to back of the woofer and other end to the computer green colored port. Would you be able to help me, please.

I have a combining box along with woofer (sony companion 3)

My computer has about 5 different ports- one for rear, one for the front, center, woofer etc.

Since my companion 3 Bose system takes only one input ( a wire with a jack on each side), I use either center(green port) to connect to the speaker system. It was working very well all along. Suddenly, after I came back from vacation, when I tried to reconnect, the computer is working fine with Windows 7. Only audio problem. Appreciate your help sincerely,

    Ravi

First try to play any song or mp3 file on windows media player if it play then there is not issue of sound driver but if it gives error and not play then you need to reinstall audio driver. Make sure there is not sound mute in start menu->control panel->sound property. Make sure the jack from woofer connected to computer 's middle port of audio. If you need driver then you can download it from below link. Click here Also make sure there is not any loose connected from woofer to speaker. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

This happens because the desktop no longer know that you have the speakers plugged in.You need to manually reassign the plug for the speakers.
Remove the speakers cable and reboot. Go to C/WINDOWS and launch RTHDCPL.exe - the audio manager will open. Plug in the cable - use whatever plug you want, preferably the green one. The corresponding plug in the manager will light up and a new window will appear, asking you what you have plugged in it - select Line Out.  That should be it.

I assumed you had the normal Realtek audio chip - apparently your version has a different chip. In that case you must find out exactly what is the audio chip and find its management utility software. You can do that in My Computer's Properties, Hardware,  Device Manager, Sound.

In the mean time go to Control Panel and in Sounds make sure everything is correctly recognized and configured - in there you will also get a clue of what is the audio chip.

You MUST have the Surround Sound Drivers and Control center installed on your PC. usually it is a 5 Channel setup.
If you have a look in your manual, you will see that these speaker outputs need to go through an Active Decoder, or a Passive Combining Box.
usually, on say a desktop, there are a number of Audio IN & OUT Jacks on the back of the PC, usually there are 5, Jack,(Or More depending) Now ALL of those can be configured as OUTPUTS, accordingly, you can connect up your 5 Channel surround Sound, One output for the Sub Woofer, Center, the other Four, are for Front Right and Left, and Rear Right and Left.
Now if your laptop has 5 connections the you too can do the same, BUT it has NOT, therefor you MUST use a Passive Converter Box, where you have ONE INPUT lead that plugs into the laptop, and ALL the other leads, OUTPUTS, all 5 of them, Plug into it, and it is this that distributes the sound to the 5 sets of speakers..
Most Laptops ONLY have the Green, jack, Audio (Stereo Speakers) OUT, the Red Jack, is Microphone IN, and the last one is usually Line Out. 1 V pp.
Another way is to get a USB to 7.1 Surround Sound 8-Channel 3D USB External Audio Box.
see link below.

How do i make a recovery disk for the vaio vgc-ra830g pc?

Hello again,

Sony sells the recovery media if you require it.
https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/categorySearch.do?operation=subCategorySearch&subCategory=109&category=3&subCategoryName=Recovery%20CD&categoryName=Computer

if the link doesn't work copy it completely to your addressbar and press enter.

If your machine works and you can use it, and you have the original stuff from sony still installed then you can most likely find the vaio recovery from your start menu.

1. close all extra programs that you don't need.
2. disconnect your internet
3. disconnect printers and other extra devices
4. From the Vaio Recovery wizard appliaction, in the vaio recovery window, under media nad recovery options, click to select Create recovery media kit.
5. click the next button
6. You have two choises for recovery media either one recordable CD and two recordable DVD's

OR

10 recordable CD's.

Hello there... Check your PC's volume. You may or someone in your household has accidentally muted it. Unmute it or increase its volume (if you can't find the audio icon in the taskbar, proceed to the control panel - it's there), it maybe too low. Hope this helps... Ai :)

Hook up a Sony VGC RA 840G desktop to a Samsung 46 inch TV

Some TV's don't have a VGA input. S-Video cable is more common. Look on the back of your computer an see if you have an S-Video jack. If you have a TV compatible output on your computer, such as an S-video jack, just take an S-video cable and connect it to your computer and your TV. If you do not, then attach your VGA end of your adapter to your computer and use the RCA, S-video or Component Video cable to attach to your TV. After you've made all the connections, make sure you are on the correct TV video input. Press the input button on your TV or remote until you see your computer's signal.
