Because the camera has a different focus point from the eyepiece. TURN the focus knob until the camera comes into focus. OR you can buy a "focus ring" for the eyepiece which attaches to the barrel of the eyepiece and is adjustable-- then focus with the camera FIRST and then insert the eyepiece with the ring on it and lift it UP until the image comes to focus-- then tighten the ring. NOW you can use that eyepiece to roughly focus the camera.

I cannot get the telescope to focus. How can I do this? Tashaws345@hotmail.com

You did not say WHICH Edu-Science telescope you own.

However, put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope focuser. You can use the small mirror diagonal if you have one-- depends on the type of telescope.

DO NOT use the 2xbarlow if you have one just the eyepiece with the largest number written on it. Take it outside during the daytime and practice focusing on a distant object at least 300 feet away.

The rack and pinion gear on the focuser for a meade ds 2000 telescope got stripped. I can't find replacement focuser .

You can possibly buy another focuser from Meade here:

Trouble focusing Vivtar telescope

Put the diagonal into the telescope, DO NOT use the 2x barlow if you have one. Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope and try again.

Trouble focusing Vivtar telescope

The telescope is designed to use the diagonal - it adds the necessary length to reach a focus point.

yup there is a mechanical stop to prevent you from cracking the mirror by retracting or extending it too far.. once you break the pin off it needs to go to the factory for dis-assembly as they have to remove the primary to get to it and realign it my 105 did same thing....word of advise use a cable extender for focus not an electric focuser they fail to tell you that it can over run the built in stops making your scope useless...i may be mistaken but i believe the max turns is 25 or about for end to end focusing adjustment on the 125

I am 9 can't see out of my galileo 700x60 telescope what do i need to do

there are 3 types of telescopes:
1)refractor, uses lenses
2)reflector, uses mirrors
3)catadioptric, uses both

try this and practice doing this during the day time, it's easier.

get your eyepiece, the one with the highest number on it (# mm); this is your lowest power eyepiece, always use this first (wider view and easier to see where you're pointing it), and place it in your telescope.

next, use the focusing knob to focus on a target (a faraway tree, lamp post, etc.). once you have it focused, and if you want to get a closer look, get the next highest number eyepiece and refocus on the target. this is how you change magnification.
if you have a barlow lens (2x or 3x) this will also change the magnification by 2x or 3x without having to buy other eyepieces, although you can still buy more.
put it together in this order:
eyepiece-->barlow lens-->telescope

use the star diagnal for land viewing.

if you have a reflector telescope,
the open part of the telescope tube next to the focuser points to your target. focus it the same as above.

oh, and sometimes, with refractors, you might have to use the
45 degree or 90 degree diagnal to focus the telescope.

and google how to use a telescope. there's nice observing tips :D

hope this helps :D

oh, and check out the moon at night. it's a very nice target.
best time to observe the moon is when it's not full.
you gotta check out the 'terminator' (area on the moon where the light and darkness is separated.

Telescope will not focus on moon, stars etc. will focus on ground targets. i know there are 3 different optics and i know there use.are there up grades to make this new telescopes work? i e-mailed tasco of...

You won't get anything from TASCO - these are considered toy telescopes. Put the eyepiece with the LARGEST number written on it into the telescope. DO NOT use the 2X barlow it is useless in such a small telescope.

Your first target should be the moon -- practice focusing on the moon until you can do it easily.

Can't see anything through the lens?

Put the diagonal into the telescope-- then put the eyepiece that has the LARGEST number written on it. This is the lowest magnification. DO NOT USE THE BARLOW 2x multiplier !!

Take the scope outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object. The moon should be the first night time target you try to see.
