Question about Olevia LT42HVi 42 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

I can turn power on and i will get sound but no picture. I can get different channels up & down with sound only ,but no picture. It seems that the picture has totally failed as there is no on screen controls showing, which confirms that the picture is not working. we also tried to play a dvd and got sound , but no picture. The screen is dark , but the back lighting appears when we powerup. What I am trying to say is when we turn it off the screen go dead, but when we power up the screen is still black, but it is a lighter shade of black.\r\nEverything seems to work but the picture. This morning everything worked just fine, when I turned it on this evening, no picture. Any suggestions?. I have unplugged it several times and the blue light will go off as normal , but no picture. We have a Olevia 242 t11 appx 2 years old.

This can be caused by a main board failure or a t-con board failure. There is a fuse on the t-con that fails but it is not the standard looking fuse. It is an extremely small, surface mounted component fuse. You have to know what you're looking for to find it. It can be bypassed momentarily and if the picture comes back then the t-con is the problem for sure. You really ought to take it to a shop as this is not something that is easily diagnosed at home.

Testimonial: "helpful, I can understand that he will refer to shop as this can be dangerous to an unqualified person. I still need to know how to access the t con "

  • markoleviatv Aug 28, 2010

I still need help. How easy is it to test the t- con board for viability and how easy is it to replace?

  • abrownjr Aug 28, 2010

The t-con is usually located at the top edge of the panel, ( in the middle), but some are now putting them at the bottom edge. There is no practical way to test other than what I've allready said unless you have access to an oscilloscope and know what to look for. Some are easy to replace but some are under frame pieces and can be a pain to do.

Mom's Sharp Aquos TV no sound or picture there is a green flashing light where the power light is I heled the volume up and channel down while the TV was unplugged. plugged it back in sound no picture

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

I have a Marantz Digital Integrated Amplifier PM75 and experiencing with LP's and CD's that I get a loud popping sound , thereafter no sound until after several minutes when it comes back on.

If the sound is common to both channels plus on different functions, it is either a part that is common to both channels or is in the power supply. It will be either in the main pre-amp or power amp, or power supply. If you can turn the bad sound down, it's before the volume control and it's unlikely to be in the power amp section. If you can't turn the bad sound down, it will be in the power amp section.
Remember stereo amps are two mono amps joined together. So the two channels have separate parts for each channel. However some use IC's that have both channels running in them, they can be suspects in this case.

When i turn on my 212R it turns on in drive channel. if footswith is plugged in, then it turns on in the clean channel, but after switching in drive it is impossible to switch it back in clean channel. What could be wrong? Swith position doesnt change anything and it seems like switch is OK.

Hi my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
First of all lower the blue and any other screen controls or service menu settings back to where they were or lower.
Then see if it powers on again with a picture.
If it still shuts off, unplug the Blue CRT circuit board and see if it works.
If it does work the blue CRT may be shorted .
Your problem may have been corroded CRT pins.

Carver Sound Problems

your going to need this place to download the remedy's for your system http://www.euras.com/repair_tips_1/CARVER/AV505/AV505_CARVER.htm

if it is not working then there is another serious problem , and it could be the amp IC or the volume IC but tests will need to be done to determine what is causing the failure , but it does sound like amp IC as a suspect since the rear were not even working , did the volume seem different when turning it up or down before the center quit or after the center quit?

Gem Sound XP-350 both channels failed

Speaker fuses are generally fast-blow styles 250 volt glass
If an amp shuts down, with speakers connected, it sounds like one of the power supply lines does NOT like what it's "seeing" . Probably output transistors bad ( or module)

Take it to a tech.

Scott out.
