Door latch Last night my wife ran a load of clothes on wrinkle free cycle. When she went back all the lights were off and the door opened. However, the drum was not rolled over to the open position. She rolled it until she came to the sticker stating to hold the lever and turn the drum until you get to the opening. Fortunately she had been turning it in the proper direction. When we tried to start it up again all we get is a hammering from the solenoid valve that latches the door. It bounces back and forth but does not stay in the extended position. I assume that if the door lock is not engaged it does not allow the start up sequence to go any further. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

just so we are on the same page....this is the top loading dryer.....the drum rotates, and is "supposed" to be open (slid back out of sight) when the lid lock button is pushed, to be able to then open the lid. Our lid simply opened, and the bottom of the drum was exposed....and had to manually be turned, to access the clothes.

Check the info from this website in regards to the door switch. You will also find more information how to troubleshoot your appliance.

The door switch is critical to the dryer's operation. If the switch is not working, the dryer will not run.

If the dryer has a door latch, make sure the latch is free of dirt or lint and properly adjusted before you make any switch tests or replacements. Sometimes a misaligned latch prevents the door from being closed tightly, preventing the switch from being activated.

The switch on the dryer may be accessible from the outside door, or you may have to remove the top of the dryer to access it. The switch is a simple assembly, with two lead wires running to it. Test the switch with a volt-ohm-milliammeter (VOM) set to the RX1 scale. Disconnect the switch leads and clip one probe of the VOM to each switch terminal. Press the switch closed with your finger. The VOM should read zero. If the needle jumps, the switch is faulty and should be replaced with a new one of the same type.

The switch is held to the dryer with setscrews; remove these screws and disconnect the leads to the switch. Install a new switch and connect the leads. Then position the switch and tighten the setscrews to hold it in place.

May i know the model and the make of the product in details so that it can help me resolving the issue is a more prompt manner

    It's noisyMost
noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear
loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become
unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start
it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Cannot unlock door

Try first putting the control on 0 , then unplugging power cord for ten minutes, then plugging it bac.

If this does not work try restarting the cycle at any point and leave the cycle to complete, then you try openoing the door.

665 dishwasher

If the door is not locking properly there is a chance that the door lock switch is not being closed. This will shut off power to many of the circuits, including power to the water fill solenoid, etc. Latch mechanisms are available separately.

Door locked no power

If the machine didnt finish the cycle due to the pump being clogged the door will remained locked also if the lock mechanism went bad, the machine will stay locked. Remove the top of the machine by taking the screws from the top back out. Once removed look down the right hand side and you'll see the lock mechanism, usually with a plastic tab you pull to manually release the lock. On some machines it maybe be required and sometimes easier to remove the bottom kickplate and access the lock assembly from there

The rinse cycle does not work, but everything else does

I don't know if the problem is solved but last night we ran the washer without any clothes in it and everything seemed to work fine. My wife was able to run a load of laundry and it seemed to work. I hope it was just too much clothes the first time it stopped or the washer was just acting up. Either way, I had nothing to do with the fix. Sorry I couldn't be any more help. Thank you for the link to assistance plan, it might come in handy in the future.

Thanks again,

Mildew/Stagnant water smell in washer

you know, this does happen.

run it on a full cycle, warm, with either of these in solution.

baking soda, at 1/10 concentration

non chlorine bleach, at 1/6 concentration

you most likely need to do this more than once, until your nose is happy.

Also, consider doing this at least once every 200 wash cycles.

essential oils have same effect, and do a nice anti microbial as well.

we did this in commercial laundries all the time, as part of standard health code compliance issues.
