Probably you have not installed the drivers. The drivers is with the Drivers & Utilities disc that came with your computer. Follow the pop-up window instructions. 1. You will need to load the drivers for the Network interface card.
Your Dell customer support representative can assist with this or the internet service provider ( cable or DSL) .you will need the restore disk.
If you are not savvy as to how to install the network card drivers.
Here is the Microsoft instruction set and the explanation for where the drivers can be located for a third party driver.
The manufacturers site is a good source for updating the network card drivers also. You may also need to update the motherboard drivers. These are also located at the manufacturers site.

Click the "Start" button on your Task Bar.
Locate and click the "Control Panel" option located inside of your "Start" menu. This will bring up your "Control Panel" screen.
Double-click the "Vaio Recovery Wizard" button. This will bring up a window.
Follow the instructions given during the Vaio Recovery Wizard. When prompted, confirm that you want to reset your Vaio to its original factory settings.
Allow the computer upwards of an hour to properly restore itself to factory settings.
