I have a Jazz DV179 camera and when I am using the movie option the image is really unclear ( in normal mode and even in high quality mode) when using the numeric zoom under 4.0 X. Strange... when I use 4.0 X it's very very clear. Can it be a defect on it or it is like this because of a low quality camera ?
I am experiencing a zoom focus problem under all settings. The only one that films somewhat clear is the normal setting without zoom but that is even slightly blurry. Are
you pressing the shutter button half-way and giving the camera time to
lock in the focus before pressing the rest of the way? If not, the good
pictures were just luck.
The overall image is out of focus If Pan focus is being used, the image may be out of focus; use Auto Focus Mode. Pan focus uses a focus range of several feet, so the image might be blurry but will be captured faster. This could occur in the EX-Z30, EX-Z40, EX-Z50, EX-Z55 and EX-Z57. If digital zoom was chosen and the image becomes unclear, only use optical zoom, and move closer.
attach your usb power cord (it came with the camera in the box) in a power outlet, then attach the usb end into your usb adaptor on the bottom of your buttons panel of your jazz DV179... the light should go on and turn red

are you sure that there is no conversion lens setting activated in the setup menu? It sounds like that to me. These modes limit the ranges.
I hope it will help, otherwise you will have to bring it back.
