Emachine ET1161-05 desktop...monitor keeps going to sleep...comes back on only if i move the mouse...very annoying, i don't want my monitor to ever go into sleep mode...pls help

This may be something that Windows (or the computer is telling Windows) to do. Everyone wants to reduce the power consumption in the computer, so be default your monitor may be going into 'sleep' mode and turning off.
1) To change this, RIGHT click on the Windows desktop. 2) When the menu appears, select PROPERTIES, then select the SCREEN SAVER tab. 3) There are 2 things to check here. First at the top, make sure that your screen saver is selecting something beside BLANK. This will cause the monitor to blank out and appear to have turned off. 4) The second thing to check is the POWER settings. Click the POWER button at the bottom on the screen. 5) Now, you will see 2 rows of power options, one for when the computer is plugged in (which is all the time with your desktop) and the other is when on batteries. We're concerned with the PLUGGED IN settings. 6) Make sure the TURN OFF MONITOR setting is set for NEVER. This will ensure that your monitor never turns off on you. 7) Now click OK and OK and now your monitor shouldn't turn off on you.
Hope this response helps you out.
Best of luck!

My compute dose not start when i turn it on. It doesn't beep no video signal just blank. What could be the problem?

Do you get any lights on the PC when turned on?
Hopefully you have resolved this by now but if not....
Not a lot of info to go on here but here are some things to check...some may be obvious I know but worth mentioning...

Check the following:
1- Is there power coming from where you plug it in (can you plug something else in the outlet that works?)
2- Is the power cord plugged securely in the back of the PC? (Unplug and replug connector to be sure)
3- Is the red switch near the power plug on the back of the PC set to 115 or 230? (Try changing this and then setting back to 115)
4- Is the power supply plugged into the motherboard inside the PC?

Gateway 830GM power

Could be power supply, unplug every thing from the board, remove all drives, cards everything but the mem. turn it on, if you get some beeps, add your Hard drive. The power supply may not have the guts it take to run all the peripherals it used to, this test will tell you if its the board or power supply.

Acer L100 will not power up.

Need to change out the power supply..just open the case to get the wattage should be around 500W, then go to online computer store for new one..easy to install just a couple of screws..but heres a tip, if you have a digital camera take a picture of where all the wires go on the motherboard before you unplug them..not good some are 12V, 5V and 3.3V, wrong socket and you gonna be buying a new motherboard too...good luck..pls rate this solution.

Power failure

by plugging it directly into the wall... what was it plugged into before. and have you actually taken some other electrical device and plugged it in to make sure the wall socket is still live.
there is also a reset button on most power strips... it may have tripped.

Try those and let us know.

After install my linksys usb network adapter with speedbooster and i shot down the computer and restart it i can not get a connection i have to reinstall the setup izard each time

Hi,

A couple of things you can try:
1. verify that you have administrator rights when installing;
2. temporarily disable your anti-virus during the installation;
3. if you are running Ad-Watch or a similar program that disallows registry changes, disable during the installation phase;
4. verify that the LinkSys USB is plugged in the same USB port as to where it was when originally installed;
5. verify that the LinkSys USB is plugged in even before the PC is powered up.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
