Writing a document and saving - the document will be saved as .DOCX.
DOCX is the 2007 version.
Saving as 2003:
Use Save As - and here you can save as .DOC
Now the document is saved in a version which can be read by the 2003 version

Is there any opportunity to open a docx file with microsoft word 2003?

Hi, there are many way to do so. Following are few online and offline methods/workarounds to read the content of docx format files.1. Open docx with Older version of Office -If you already have older version of Microsoft Office, then you only need to install compatibility pack over existing install. After this install you will able to read docx files in pre-existing Microsoft Office install - download Microsoft Compatibility Pack
2. Compatibility with Open Office -If you have Open Office installed on your computer, then you need to install Open XML Translator to able to read docx files - download Open XML Translator
3. No Software install, convert files to doc format online -I found this method best to able to read docx files without hassles of installing any software. There are number of online tools to convert docx format into doc.
4. Solution for Office installed on Mac - For MS Office install on Macintosh system you need to install Microsoft Office Open XML File Format Converter for Mac - download Open XML File Format Converter
5. Desktop Widget -The Docx-converter Dashboard Widget allows you to convert files right from your Desktop. Simply drag the .docx file you want to convert into the drop area of the widget and the widget will automatically convert the file and save it to the location of the original file - download desktop widget

Old computer broke down. Copied old files onto laptop. A lot of the files were on Microsoft works Cannot load them on laptop on windows 7 my works program is on floppy disks. cannot load floppies on...

Your best bet is to buy a newer version of Microsoft Works of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office has a free plug in to read Works files.

However, if your goal is to spend no money, you might want to look at some of the free Microsoft Office alternatiove programs that can read Microsoft Works files.

One that can read Works files is LibreOffice at
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/

Or you can use an on-line converter like
https://secure.convert-doc.com/converters/wps-to-odt.html

to convert the WPS files to something else.

How to Convert WordStar 6.0 toWord for Windows

WordStar 6.0 is a defunct word processing program whose file formats must beconverted for use in another program. Microsoft Word for Windows has asupplemental converter pack that is used to convert WordStar files into Worddocuments. The converter pack must be downloaded from the Microsoft websitebefore any files can be converted. This process takes only a few minutes;afterward, files can be converted without any problem using the "SaveAs" function.

1. Go to Microsoft's ftp site (see Resources forlink). A window will automatically pop up that says "You have chosen toopen wdsupcnv.exe." Click "Save File." 2. Run thewdsupcnv.exe file and copy the convertor files and the readme.rtf file byselecting them and holding "Ctrl" and "C" at the same time. 3. Open the properMicrosoft directory by opening C:\Program Files\Common Files\MicrosoftShared\Textconv directory. 4. Paste the filesinto the Textconv directory. 5. Right-click onyour WordStar 6.0 file and select the "Open As" choice from thedrop-down menu. 6. Choose"Microsoft Word for Windows" from the selection of programs in thepop-up window. This will automatically add the needed filter to your Wordprogram. 7. How can i convert my pptx file to word cause it can't be opeened

PPTX is Powerpoint 2007 format. Microsoft has a free viewer for that version if you dont have Office at all, available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=048DC840-14E1-467D-8DCA-19D2A8FD7485&displaylang=en You will only be able to view, not edit the document using this viewer.

As an alternative, if you have the 2003 Office suite, you can download the compatibility pack which will allow you to open .pptx files in Powerpoint 2003, .docx in Word 2003, etc. That download is located at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en
