SOURCE: washer won't agitate

First, see the Sears parts site for washer model # 110.22952100 which I believe is your model.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.22952100+

Look at the section containing the agitator and you should see how the parts fit.

Also see the following for an illustrated description of replacing the "dogs"

Rusted agitator mounting bolt in frigidaire washing machine

Pour some oil on it, engine oil or AT oil will do, kitchen oil too but, becareful of colors so after you done with the cleaning, wipe the excess. Remember, since the bolts are rusted they require extra strenght hence get a tool that completely covers the bolt or else you will grind the corners of the bolt.

Hope this helps

Does the agitator come off so I can look under it for rubber backing off of a bath mat?

The agitator secures to the bottom of the tub by snapping over the drive bell in the bottom of the washtub. Some agitators have a bolt under the agitator cap, although many will not have a bolt. www.rubberfloorings.co.uk

Gently remove the fabric softener cup off of the top of the agitator
Using a ratchet, an extension and socket; then remove the retaining bolt under the fabric softener cup.
The agitator will lift off after the bolt is removed.

Installation is:
Drop the agitator in place. Install bolt.... tighten bolt with ratchet, extension and socket. Install the fabric softener cup.

Bolt inside agitator has come loose there is a spring in it all of it is unloose

You are referring to the agitator bolt and agitator cam assembly. Whirlpool manufactured washers (such as Kenmore) use a split agitator design. The top half is known as the "auger, while the lower half is the agitator. Between the two pieces is a cam assembly, with small teflon teeth known as "dogs". There's also an agitator bolt that holds the entire assembly to the center post.

If the auger (top half of the agitator) has come loose all that you should have to do is retighten the agitator bolt and snap the center post cap (or dispenser) back in place. DO NOT overtighten as this can restrict movement of the agitator or damage it. Tighten until snug.

If you have any parts that require replacing, such as a worn cam assembly or agitator dogs, the following link epxlains what these parts are, and how to replace them:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608577-replacing_agitator_dogs

The part number for the agitator dogs is included in the link provided. For a little more you can purchase the entire cam assembly, which includes the cam, thrust bearing, seal and dogs.

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The first three sites I have listed have helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you in locating and identifying the parts you may need. These drawings can also be helpful in helping you reassemble your agitator.

If you have any questions, please post back with your complete MODEL NUMBER (located on a nameplate along the wash tub rim under the lid) and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

How do I remove the agitator in a Hoover 500MD machine?

Most Hoovers have a 10mm bolt down inside the agitator. Remove the fabric softener dispenser from the top of the agitator, and look down the centre of agitator. You need a long extension socket to undo the bolt (anticlockwise). Be careful not to turn bolt too hard- sometimes the bolt is seized where it goes into top of gearbox, and if you turn bolt too hard, you can break the bolt. Once bolt is removed, agitator just pulls straight out

Eaton Viking Washing Machine

Usually on these machines on the very top of the agitator is a snap-on lid, usually for adding bleach or fabric softener. Unsnap this lid and lift from the top of the agitator. Look down the hole and you should see some kind of nut or screw. Remove this item (make note as to how tight it is JUST AFTER it breaks free). Once this is removed, you should be able to lift the agitator out of the machine. Remove your shirt, and replace the agitator. Replace the nut or screw previously removed, and tighten approximately as tight as it was when removed. Don't over tighten. Replace snap-on lid.

With the unit apart, now might be a good time to clean any accumulated dirt or other foreign material.
