Remove the motor cover. Dismount the motor from the vacuum frame. The fan will be on the underside of the motor. Unscrew or unbolt the fan from the motor.

To replace the belt in a simplicity vacuum cleaner follow the following steps:
Disconnect the Simplicity vacuum cleaner from the power outlet. Place the unit on a stable surface such as the floor or a table.

  • 2 Turn the unit over to expose the bottom plate. You will see two tabs towards the back of the roller. Gently pull the tabs towards you, doing one side at a time. Carefully lift off the plate.
  • 3 Remove the roller brush from the vacuum. This will also remove one side of the old belt. Remove the other end of the belt from the motor drive shaft. Take off any strings or hair from the roller brush.
  • 4 Install the new belt by looping it around the drive shaft pulley first and then the brush roller pulley.
  • 5 Place the roller brush back into the bottom of the vacuum cleaner. Use your hand to turn the roller brush to ensure the belt is on securely and not twisted.
  • 6 Turn on the vacuum cleaner to test the belt. If you notice a burning smell, then the belt may not be installed properly. In this case, repeat the above steps to properly place the belt into the machine.

How do I Pull apart a Simplicity Synchrony?

The noise is likely the brush roll or the lower motor fan if you only hear it when you turn on the brush roll. Remove the bottom plate to examine the brush roll, there are screws on the bottom of the vacuum that must be removed so that the top nozzle housing cover can be removed. Remove the screws to take the cover off the nozzle housing from the brushroll to the lower motor so you will be able to inspect the fan in the lower motor. You have a high quality precision vacuum that is not easy to repair without proper training. It may save money and provide better results to have it repaired by a qualified Simplicity or Riccar repair shop.

HOW TO CANGE BELT ON SIMPLICITY 9.8 VACUUM

This is pretty easy. Turn vac upside down, remove brush cover, brush with belt on it pops out on each side. You must get the exact replacement belt so take your model number and any other numbers to vacuum repair shop. The belt around brush then around motor spindle, replace brush and cover.

Why does my riccar supralite vacuum makes a loud rattling noise like the roller is banging around?

You have something wrong with your brush roll or you have damaged the fan. Remove the brush roll and belt and turn the vacuum back on, if the noise is gone it is likely something wrong with your brush roll, if the noise persists you probably have a broken fan. You have to remove the motor and fan housing after removing the top cover, unscrew the bolt holding the fan on and install a new fan (you can get one from any Riccar or Simplicity vacuum dealer)

Your simplicity has a lifetime belt. It has a sensor to shut the direct air motor off if something restricts the brushroll from from turning. You may save money in the long run by taking it to a simplicity or Riccar vacuum dealer.

I have a simplicity freedom F3700.2 upright vacuum. It has been working wonderfully until now. I plug it in and it won't start. I have tried removing the bottom and cleaning the roller, the bag isn't...

Sounds like a break in cord or plug somewhere. I am not familiar with the particular vacuum myself. Another thought I have when looking around your vacuum cleaner have you seen a red reset button anywhere at all?

Or by chance does your vacuum cleaner have a plug comes off....... (i.e. like a computer)

    a few thoughts

Simplicity F3500-- how do I get the bottom off to change the belt?

To change the belt on the Simplicity F3500, unplug the vacuum and turn it upside down. There are two tabs (one on each side) behind the beater bar that hold the cover on the vacuum. Press these tabs inward and lift the bottom plate away from the unit.

Then remove the brushroll and the worn or broken belt from the pulley on the side of the brush roll and the drive shaft. Loop the new belt over the driveshaft and the brushroll. Replace the brushroll in the housing and turn it by hand. Make sure that the belt is seated on the driveshaft and pulley with no twists. Also check that all of the rotating parts will move.

Then put the bottom cover back on by aligning the back hinges and then pressing the plate down until both sides click.

For pictures of the cover removal process, look at page 15 in the manual. The direct link is http://www.simplicityvac.com/about-my-simplicity/manuals/FreedomManual_Update0803.pdf . Most Simplicity vacuum manuals are available at their support site: http://www.simplicityvac.com/about-my-simplicity/manuals/ .

    I hope this helps.

    How to replace the belt.

Instructions are in the manual, free online here:

    http://simplicityvac.com/about-my-simplicity/manuals/7000.pdf

Short version: slide the two retaining clips to the center and remove the bottom plate. There's a C-shaped retaining clip at the right end of the roller tray. Remove the clip and lift the roller out. Thread the old belt from around the motor drive shaft, thread the new one in, put it around the roller and replace the roller - belt will stretch enough to let you do this. Put the C-clip back in, replace the bottom plate and go.
