Having gone a month without a response to my query about make and model, I assume this is no longer a problem.

I can't view or upload the pictures I have taken on Manual mode only. I take the CF card out to view and upload the pictures I need, but when I tried to do so tonight, the manual mode pictures do not show...

Check to see whether you are saving them to an unusual location on the CF card. If you are finding the image files from the card but just cannot open them, you may have taken the pictures as "raw" format images. If they are in "raw" format, you may need special software to open them on the computer.

I have a nikon d5100, when I take a picture the live view screen is black. I can view the pictures saved on my memory card but not the pictures currently taken! How can I fix this problem?

The normal mode for this camera, as it has been for SLRs for half a century, is to use the viewfinder to compose your pictures. If you want to use the Live View feature, you need to activate it by rotating the Live View switch beside the mode dial. Full details are in the "Live View" section of the manual (begins on page 99 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one from

How to take a picture using display instead of view finder

I don't believe there is. Nikon call it Live View in other models, but its not mentioned in the D40 user manual.....

here's the full manual, if you'd like it.

If the board was "repaired" the settings should not have changed. There is a particular order to performing a convergence alignment. Do a web search for the service manual that will document the specific steps you need to take. Search using the model number and the keyword "manual". It should be availabel for $10-$15.
