Question about Audio Players & Recorders

2 Answers

My Panasonic tape/CD player (SA-PM193, but Panasonic's website search says they can't find it) has jammed. I pulled out all trays except one (#4), which is located too far back, and removed four CDs. Cannot tell if #4 has a CD in it. Pushed # 1, 2, 3 back, but #5 won't go all the way in; something blocks it. Rich577

Hello Rich,

If you say your Cd/ or something is stuckd inside your player,
First you should try calling Panasonic, (1-800-211-7262) Or in their website

What i will recommend you if they cant help you, or if your warranty has already expired is to take your Panasonic tape/cd player to a repair store.

If you want to try to fix it yourself, there isnt much i can help you from here if it is a jam. I would however suggest you to carefully take all the CDs/tapes out of it. Then when the only Cd left is the one jammed, turn it upside down, and try to carefully shake it and see if you can unjam it.

Good luck, and Thank you for using this service.

Why won't the CD drawer and Cassette door open on my Panasonic SA-PM17 CD Stereo System?

This does happen with CD trays, it's quite common. I can't remember the exact mot common cause, but it's some worn out part, such as a small (plastic) cog wheel. Search on "cd tray won't open" on the internet to find a multitude of reasons, most to do with computer CD trays, but I guess the mechanism is essentially the same. These may also describe ways round the problem.
Some CD players have a small hole on the front near the tray into which poking a straightened out paperclip should enable you to open the tray by a few mm, enough to be able to pull it open in an emergency - but it's awkward to do on a frequent basis.

My panasonic SA-PM193 died after 3 hours of playing music after i added a 4 inch subwoofer and 2 small speakers

... whatever that tells us.

If you severely modified the load to the amp by running more speakers than it's designed to drive and/or at a lower impedence, well, are you surprised?

It only pushes around 25 watts/channel AT TEN PERCENT DISTORTION through a carefully and unrealistically limited bandwidth specification.

http://audio.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/panasonic/sc-pm193_1.html?idRes=699618

Running 'clean' (under, say, 1% distortion throughout th 20-20000hz range) it probably only pushes 10 watts/channel. Once an amp is taxed beyond it's clean abilities it will start to distort, badly, and distortion will kill speakers and maybe the amp itself.

Cd jam in panasonic sa-pm17

Hi. Got the very same problem. At christmas I had loaded two cd's in one of the racks. I used needlenose pliers as well and pulled each of the 5 trays out (well past their runners). Tried to dismantle the unit with the 3 screws on each side, but gave up. When I turn the power off and on and do a cd check the "hello" flashes then nothing, tried cd/change power button and basically everything else. All I can say is go easy on the unit as I was to forceful an now think i've ruined it. I'm gutted as this was a great mini hi-fi and has served me well. Best of luck with ur Panasonic, cheers.

Jammed CD tray system

You may have a disk that fell out of tray onto lower mechanism. Be careful when disassembling mechanism as they have timing gears that are positioned to perform certain functions

The CD changer for my stereo (SA-PM193)jammed when I was changing from one CD to another. It looked like a CD was crooked, and I pulled it out. Then the tray wouldn't go back, so I pulled each tray except...

The CD loading mechanism needs to be rebuilt. Hopefully when you pulled out the trays, nothing was broken inside. Assuming it only needs to be retimed, you can expect to pay the local labor rate. If you broke any of the gears, the parts souldn't exceed $15 or so. Most of the gears and parts are rugged. Look for a Panasonic authorized service center for the repair.

Disc tray 1 is blinking with 2 ovals around it, tray not in right Panasonic SA-HT680

I had a jammed disc that was causing this same error message. To remove the jammed disc, remove the top by removing the screws and then you can remove the stuck/jammed discs. For the Panasonic SC-PT750 there are 7 screws, three small silver ones on the back, then 4 black ones, two on each side, all philips head. Once you have that off, gently pry it off starting from the back, the cover is actually hinged into the front plastic piece of the player.
