I have a Gateway desktop and a Microsoft keyboard and there is no Fn key that I can see. Someone suggested on this website to press Function key and F11 to solve the issue of a stuck keyboard that only types UPPER CASE. Cannot find a function key. Any more suggestions? Thank you very much for trying to help.

I can`t get any upper case functions to work on hp 2011 keyboard what key do i press

1.Make sure the "Caps Lock" key is not on. Though this will be obvious to most people, if your keyboard is typing in only upper-case letters it can't hurt to check. Look at the "Caps Lock" indicator light on the top right corner of your HP keyboard. If the light is on, strike the "Caps Lock" key on the left side of your keyboard. This will turn the "Caps Lock" off, allowing you to type in lower case letters again.

2.Make sure the "SHIFT" keys on your HP keyboard are not stuck. Dust and dirt can build up on a keyboard over time, which can cause certain keys to stick. If either of your keyboard's "SHIFT" keys get stuck, your computer will type in only capital letters. Use a toothpick or cotton swab to remove the gunk from the key, which should help it return to its normal position.

3.Unplug your HP keyboard and then plug it back it. This will remove the device from your operating system and then automatically add it back in. This can have the same effect, essentially, as restarting your computer. If your keyboard was typing in capital letters due to an error being stored in your operating system's memory, that error will now be cleared and the HP keyboard will function as normal again.

4.Update your HP keyboard driver. Click "Start" and then right click on "Computer." Click "Properties" and then "Device Manager." Right click on the listing for your keyboard and then click "Update Driver." This will update the computer software that is associated with your HP keyboard. If your keyboard was typing in all capital letters as a result of an error with this driver, the error will now be fixed and you can use your keyboard normally again

WHEN YOU PRESS THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON YOU HAVE THE CHOICE OF UPPER AND LOWER CASE LETTERING BUT THERE IS ALSO AN ARROW BUTTON WHICH IS TURNED OFF AND I AM NOT ABLE TO TURN IT OFF IT SEEMS TO HAVE REVERSED MY...

Hi,

That UP arrow refers to an UPPER CASE letter. If ever you press the CAPS LOCK key, it should turn off, if it does not it means the CAPS LOCK key for some reason is stuck. Try restarting the computer and by then the CAPS LOCK should be disabled.

Please let me know if it helped by selecting YES. Thank you for choosing FixYa! Your rating will help me succeed and continuously help a lot people.

Hello, When typing on my Mo Droid if I want my caps to stay on how do I get that to work.....I tried holding it down but maybe I am not doing it properly?

If you are typing using the touchscreen, the upper-case arrow, touched once, will upper-case the next letter you type and then back to lower case. It you touch the upper-case arrow twice in a row, you should see a green light come on directly over it. That keeps the caps lock on.
If you are using the slide-out keyboard, touch the upper case key once and you should see a triangle underneath the cursor on the screen. That will upper case the next letter you type. To get it to stay in upper case, hit the upper case button again and the triangle should change to a > symbol, point up, underneath the cursor. That should keep it in upper case mode. Don't hold the upper case button down, as that won't do anything. A third press returns it to normal (lower case).

I have a Yamaha YPT-400. I walked into the music room to find a 85lb. child standing on the keys to get to a shelf above the keyboard. Grrr...Now, I have a key stuck. How would I fix this?

You have to disassemble the case to get to the keys. They LIKELY stay with the bottom of the case. Be careful of the cables from the upper half of the case to the lower.

I am not sure what type keys you have. If these are the semi-weighted piano type, the spring underneath gets out of position... If they are the silicone dome type, the dome may be crushed and you will have to replace the section that is bad. Hopefully the circuit board under that type is not cracked.

The first type mentioned requires some tricks and for that type you MAY have to remove several keys to assemble them in order. I had to make a little "L" shaped piece of metal to get the springs into place. It took about a 1/4 inch leg to go between and under the key to lift the flat spring into place.

One has to get the tang at the front of the key engaged as well. Certain notes you have to install in sequence as the black keys can block getting a white key in position.

How do I fit a replacement keyboard for my acer travelmate 4150

You need to remove the middle cover of the laptop and unscrew a few screw at the lower case. Try the find the logo keyboard at the lower case. I think just this model got screw to remove first to take it out.

Cant type upper case letters

If your caps lock is not working, a best alternative would be to hold down the shift key while pressing a letter and it will convert lower case to upper case.

Sounds like a new keyboard may be in the future for you.

Keyboard stuck in upper case

Is the caps lock light illuminated? If so, you might have to hold shift and hit caps lock to turn off the caps lock. This is an option for old typists who came from manual typewriters that you might have turned on by mistake.
