I have a Gateway desktop and a Microsoft keyboard and there is no Fn key that I can see. Someone suggested on this website to press Function key and F11 to solve the issue of a stuck keyboard that only types UPPER CASE. Cannot find a function key. Any more suggestions? Thank you very much for trying to help.

When pressing number on laptop its showing characters

From your description I must assume that if all other keyboard functions and keys work properly then the keyboard is faulty. For the number keys to print the upper case characters shown on those keys requires a shift key to be depressed or stuck. If all other keys work properly, replace the keyboard. Otherwise look for a stuck shift key. I have found keyboards for sale on Ebay.

How can get driver for Wind XP

There are no drivers user loaded, the instruction is in the cd / dvd disk drive already from the factory, but when you load the OS, it has some included... these have been known to become corrupt or filtered...
In case windows no longer recognizes the cd dvd disk drive, as if the disk drive driver were erased...

left click start in the lower left hand of the screen
left click run
type regedit
left click OK
Now the registry editor will come up
double left click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
double left click on SYSTEM
double left click on CurrentControlSet
double left click on Control
double left click on Class
double left click on {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
look on the right side of the window for upper filters
right click on upper filters
left click delete
windows will then ask you to confirm deletion
click yes
look on the right side of the window for lower filters
if you do not see lower filters, you may be out of luck on this one.
right click on lower filters
left click on delete
windows will then ask to confirm deletion
click yes
Close all the windows that are open
restart the computer

In many cases that solution worked, in some cases setting the system back to a previous time, using system restore, was able to reset the system to the time before the system stopped recognizing the drive.

Hi!
On your keyboard, on the Left hand corner there is a Caps Lock key/button. Press that and try checking when you type if its all in Capital letters.
Hope this helps.

It's rejecting my password

Passwords are case sensitive, make sure that you do not have caps lock turned on if your password is all lower case, if there are any upper case letters be sure to make them upper case (Eg; If the password is "Password" you need to capitalize the P and make the rest lower case)

Cap lock is stuck on-- I need to use lower case to

Hello,
Anyways, you can use the shift key to convert the password characters in lower case.
All you need to do is to press shift+your password.
Remember that you need to hold the shift key down while pressing all other keys to write in lower case.
Also, with your keyboard you may need to get help from a local repair.
Please do tell us that you have the problem fixed.
We are always available for your help.

Regards.

Caps lock key not working - held down the key for

Press shift key for at least five times and then release when you hear a peep sound, On the Keyboard tab, uncheck everything and click Ok, if this doesn't solve, then again press five times and uncheck everything and click Ok. I also like to know if you were typing on some program like Ms-Word when the problem occurred. is the caps lock led on? Please let me know so that I can help you better.

Full system restore of Acer TravelMate 2310

If you have th eOperating system disk, you can re-install from scratch - but that will lose your documents - so you should back them up to DVD.

Then install all the drivers you need from the Acer site found here,

If this helped you then please help me and vote kindly, thank you.

Keyboard locked in upper case

Hi,

Try reseating the key board.

Check whether the keys are stuck especially the shift, alt, caps lock.

Hav you spilled any liquid on the keyboad.

Try uninstalling any software you installed for the keyboard and remove it from Device Manager (Click Start-Run-Type devmgmt.msc and click OK).

Reboot and see if that helps anything. Also, check the right shift and make sure it isn't stuck and check the keyboard settings in the Control Panel

Update the keyboad software from the microsoft website.

Pleae mntion the model  number of the keyboard to help us know more about the keyboard.

You can try holding down function key and press f11.

Control Panel -> Regional and language settings -> Tab: Languages,
Button: Details, and add a US Keyboard.

Check this to know the functions

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3ben-us%3b894513
