Question about PC Desktops

I have a HP Compaq (cn760921zf ) which i thank is still under warerntee. The Problem is it won't come on. One nite about 3 days ago, it made a big pop and then went off.I thank it mite be the Transformer but not sure.

If it is in warranty better send it for servicing.

When Windows is put on a computer it assigns hash values to certain major hardware components;

1) Processor
2) Motherboard chipset
3) BIOS program, version, and date
4) Harddrive
5) Graphics chipset

Instead, I would like to post that you can get the Restoration Disk, for your Compaq.

THE disk.

On the back of the desktop is the Serial Number in a white Service Tag. S/N = Serial Number
Only give this to an authorized HP representative.
(HP bought out Compaq)

In the US the disk is free.
The shipping and handling is not.

$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.
Call 1-800-474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Write the Serial Number down to give to the nice representative.

Cannot boot up windows xp or do system recovery


It's easy Megan, just chill, lol!

Look at the back of the computer next to the Windows product key, or up on the side of the computer tower, for the white Service Tag.
In the tag write down what it states next to S/N.

This is the Serial Number.

(DO NOT post on here. Only give to an authorized HP representative)

Now contact HP Support, and ask for the Restoration Disk.
(HP bought out Compaq a long time ago)

In the USA the disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

Compaq presario beeps 3 times, won't boot


3 Beeps is usually a RAM issue. Try re-seating your RAM in their slots and rebooting.

I have a Compaq Presario SR1610NX Desktop PC and I am having problems restoring it back to original factory settings. Can I please get some help on how to get it back to factory settings.


Back to factory settings requires the Restoration Disk. (CD disk)

Turn the computer on, install the Restoration Disk in your optical drive, (Either one), and wait for the disk to boot up.

Once you come to the question of, "What do you wish to do; Non-Destructive Restoration, or Destructive Restoration, choose Destructive Restoration.

(Non-Destructive Restoration is Repair.
Destructive Restoration is a Full Installation )

After you click on your choice follow the instructions.
Takes an average of 35 to 45 minutes.

Don't have the Restoration Disk?
You can obtain it from HP Support. (HP bought out Compaq)
The disk/s are free. The shipping and handling is not.

$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

(Big deal if you have unlimited service, or a cell phone, huh?

Beeping upon startup and nothing else.


You need to check the RAM that is the first causes of beeping your system unit. Try to remove the RAM and clean the dust and re insert it. Try to use the other memory slot. You can try it 3 times. Thank you!

Multimedia audio controller


Hi,

The problem here is that you need to install an audio driver for your system. However, there is not one available for Windows XP. You can try using a driver for Windows 98, but there is no promise that this will work for you. If that is the case, your solution is to disable the onboard audio, and install a PCI audio card that is compatable with your Windows XP and your motherboard.
