I was just talking with customer service for more than a half hour. My IMEI is OK, my sim card is legit etc.
The guy finally suggested I go to a T-Mobile store and get a new SIM card. I've been a customer since 2000 and I've still have the original SIM card three phones later. Nothing lasts forever so the idea is maybe the SIM card is dead. One of the reasons I bought the Wing is that my old 6800 died (with this SIM card installed). So it's off to the T-Mobile store tomorrow for me. Maybe you could be having the same problem.

If the sim is definately ok, Phone is faulty, blacklisted or not designed to be used in your region (eg gsm phone in cdma only area)
ask your service provider if your IMEI (type *#06#) is blacklisted, if so the previous owner has registered it lost or stolen or not paid there bill

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
