Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My young son hit a key or keys and has caused magnification of our reader on our HP f1905e. It isn't really a problem, but the standard text and pic sizing seemed to be clearer and sharper. I tried F12 but that didn't work. Any suggestions. Thanks for your help. slingshot.

Disconnect all the wires then turn it on, then connect all the wires then turn it off , then turn it on again - the plug & play will trigger and hopefully setup to the normal features, what happen is the vga and this --->1280 × 1024 factory-set resolution, plus full-screen support for lower resolutions i believe that was been change.

Inadvertant deleting of text

Your description is not very specific, but I can provide one possibility that might be the cause of your problem.
Your keyboard has an "Insert" key. If you accidentally hit this key , and then position your cursor in the middle of some text, anything you type will write over all of the text ahead of it.
If this is what you are experiencing, you need to tap the insert key a second time to turn it off.

Cant get volume on HP probook, kids hit some button on accident, everything shows volume is on but no sound

Check your laptop for a speaker icon on one of your keys, mine is on the Esc key, once found press the Fn key and hold, now press the key that the speaker icon is on and sound should be restored.

I need to increase text size on the Internet and I am having problems. Isn't there a way you can increase text size by brushing two fingers across the track pad and pressing control or another key? ...

If you're using Internet Explorer 7 (or 8) on Windows XP, or Internet Explorer 7 or 8 or 9 on Vista:

* hold CTRL and press "plus" to increase the font-size by 25%
* hold CTRL and press "minus" to decrease the font-size by 25%

You can do this more than once! Use CTRL-and-"zero" to reset to 100%.

Look in the bottom-right corner of IE's "status bar" (use "Tools" and "Tool Bars" to enable the "status bar") for the current magnification, i.e., 100%

What says home or end keys

it is primarily used to return the cursor to the beginning of the line where the cursor is located. When the text is not editable, the home key is used to return to the beginning of the document; this can also be done in editable text if the key is pressed along with control.
The home key can also be used to highlight all the characters before the cursor in a certain line if pressed along with shift in editable text.

The home key will take you to the beginning of the line you are on - try it, type a bunch of stuff then hit the Home key and you will be brought to the beginning of the line. If you are in a multi-line document, hitting CTRL+Home will bring you to the start of the entire document.

Similarly, the end key will take you to the end of the line while CTRL+end will take you to the end of the document

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.

I hit a wrong key and now my hp12c will not clear

My mother worked for HP in the 60's - 80's and when I became a banker she gave me one of the first HP 12c's. One of the things we first noticed was how quickly we went through batteries, or so we thought that was the reason why the calculator was giving us wrong answers.

My mother came up with a solution which I still use today. If you have tried all known solutions, turn off the calculator and take the cover off the battery and remove the battery. Using a standard paperclip, stretch out the clip so that you can touch both sides of the metal casing where the battery normally sits (sometimes you have to tough the casing and then something metal outside the casing). The best way I can explain, is that it is like grounding out an older car alternater. Put the battery back; put the cover back on, turn on the calculator. If you get a
"Pr Error" message this is good news. Simply select the CLX key and life is wonderful again.
Don’t ask me why this works …. But what the heck …. It’s been working for me for years. Good Luck
