Since the vent was filled with lint I would check the High Limit termal fuse located on the front of the heater asm. It is best to replace the fuse and thermostat. These parts are part of a kit that can be purchased from your local supplier. The heater asm is located in trhe bottom left of the dryer. and looks like this

make sure it is unpluged ,,,,, take the two screws out on bottom of front panel, pull out and drop down, remove 2 screws holding top down and raise, 4 5 1/16 screws holds front cover in place, take those out, left up and remove ,,,, you can see all from there ,,,,,, drum also has to come out to replace parts.
